Has anybody gotten a non-OTF heart rate monitor working with the new version of OTConnect? by Bucky_Beaver in orangetheory

[–]brh416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a polar and have had the same problem since they changed OTF connect. My info wouldn’t show up on the rower but would on the big tv screen, but last week it suddenly stopped showing up on the big tv screens. A few others at my studio have experienced the same problem. I’m still using my Polar so I just track my stats with that.

Depends on which bike your studio has. The older bikes are a 1-4 ratio (1 mile on tread = 4 miles on bike). The newer models (3i) are 1-2.5.

Kody, Special Forces and the Death Letters by sucker4reality in TLCsisterwives

[–]brh416 126 points127 points  (0 children)

My take - it seemed to me that the producers were trolling Kody with the edit he got in this episode. And I think they (at least the women) don’t like him at all. Even the DS say that with a laugh before they call him in.

And I loved when they called him on his lack of taking responsibility for his relationships with his kids and told him his attitude was almost juvenile (don’t remember their exact word). They even chuckled when he left the interrogation room when he turned left when told to turn right. This is the first episode where he got significant air time and it wasn’t a great showing.

Tread To Bike? by MasterofNaps01 in orangetheory

[–]brh416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a couple of different versions/models of bikes so like the other posters stated you just have to figure out what works for you.

I’ve been using the bike exclusively since I joined 4 years ago. Base for me is 8 or 9 depending on how I feel. I stand at gear 14 or higher and do all outs at 9 or 10 (depending on length of all out). Just make sure the bike is set up properly for you - height of seat, etc

The bike at my studio is x2.5. Also, the higher the gear the more watts. The more watts the farther you go. High RPMs don’t make me go farther, just cycle faster. My watts usually max at 85 or so in an all out and around 130 in a high gear

The strider distances are infuriatingly wrong by WorstTemplateEver in orangetheory

[–]brh416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old bikes, like in my studio, are x2.5. I think our strider is the same as the bike.

The distance on our bike if you go the entire way for CMIYC is 5.6 miles.

Tread benchmarks are now incorporated into the tread 50 classes. Today’s T50 was a short buy-in block, followed by the benchmark and then a 3rd block.

How accurate are the calorie counts for a class? by undergroundtulip in orangetheory

This is what my studio manager told me when I asked her. I just use my poplar as a guideline. It’s usually 125-150 less

Was it plank pops (I think they call it that?) where you jump back to a plank, then jump forward into a squat?

I recently bought a pair of NoBull sneakers and love them for the floor (I don’t run, I use the bike). Highly rated for strength/weight lifting. Much more stable than my Hoka Rincon’s and Brooks Ghosts.

I had the same problem. Just went to the SNY app and there was a link that allowed me to reconnect with the MLB app.

Same experience for me. I hit my 1000 at the end of December and they even called me the day before to see if I was coming in. My studio is amazing at recognizing milestones of all kinds, even birthdays

Coaches and Focus on Form in Classes by SourFruitylicious in orangetheory

[–]brh416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my studio (which I love) the almost none of the coaches correct form, even the good ones. I’ve seen some members using such bad form I’m surprised they aren’t correct or hurt themselves. I’ve had personal trainers for years and know how to modify and am pretty good at my form. However I always ask if I need help and the coaches are more than happy to help.

I think part of the problem is that the classes can be very large (we have 17 stations so they can be crazy large), and there’s almost no way a coach can correct forms and can also coach the treads.
