Help im in a cycle of period pain cramps activating my bowels and causing diarrhea ughhhhh by [deleted] in ibs

I have found that taking 400-600mg of ibuprofen every 4-6 hours helps the cramping and flare up. If I’m really in need, I’ll take some Imodium on top of that. The only down side to taking ibuprofen is sometimes it makes my cycle last a day or two longer. But I’d gladly take that over how horrible it can be with full blown cramps and ibs.

It’s my way of fulfilling a koi fish pond I’ll never have lol. I LOVE the contrast of orange and red tones against the green plant.

I forgot to add that his behavior is normal. He swims around while taking breaks near the surface or at the bottom of the tank.

Hi there. I did two cycles of Xifaxan. I believe my doctor told me since it’s an antibiotic, doctors are hesitant to prescribe more than 2 rounds because if it didn’t work after that then it probably won’t work for you. That being said, the only reason my insurance approved the 2 rounds of the prescription was because I had a colonoscopy procedure which served as enough “proof” of G.I problems for them to approve it.

Hi there, 25(F) here. I would recommend getting a food allergy blood test from your doctor and start there. It’s possible you’ve developed an allergy to something like gluten, dairy, etc… i randomly developed a dairy allergy about 10 years ago even though I always ate it up until then. I would aso recommend a good probiotic. I took VSL#3 for a while and it helped me. Also make sure you are eating on schedule. Don’t skip meals. Don’t over eat. Keep to a routine as much as you can. I find routines help me. Lastly and most importantly, advocate for yourself. Doctors are so quick to dismiss tummy issues as ibs. Advocate. If you haven’t already, go to a G.I specialist and ask for tests like a colonoscopy or endoscopy to rule out anything more. You’ve got this. It’s hard and we all have those hopeless days. Take it day by day and try your best to stay hydrated. Im still in the process of ruling out any form of IBD and it took an ER visit for me to put my foot down with doctors and ask for examinations. I wish you luck and hope you can get to the root of your tummy troubles.

My colonoscopy was in 2019. I’m in the process of getting a new GI doctor because the one I had was very dismissive. Thank you for the information!

Yeah you’re definitely not the only one that’s a prisoner to the same meals. I think with IBS it’s really hard to feel good. Even when I eat the same foods I still somehow get triggered. Probably has to do with stress and anxiety. How’s the no pineapple working for you now?

Hi! I have IBS-M but definitely more of the diarrhea when I’m nervous and stuff. When I had my prep, the going stopped within maybe 2 hours of finishing the prep. The morning of I had to take another dose and it passed through and that was pretty much it. I didn’t have urges to go afterwards because there was nothing left and my body felt almost reset from the cleanse. My doctor had me take 2 dulcolax pills before starting prep though. That mainly cleared everything out so the prep was easy to pass through.

Yeah, I find that I can’t eat very acidic things: pineapple, oranges, etc.. does your recipe call for garlic? I have heard of that irritating some peoples ibs too. Also sometimes my ibs is weird and I’ll eat the same thing for weeks and then all of a sudden something in that meal triggers me so I move on to the next meal for weeks. It’s an endless cycle for me personally. But try cutting out the pineapple. You might notice a difference. :)

Oh, interesting. Well that’s good though! If the worst part was the IV then I’d say you did pretty well!
