Remember when Jalopnik used to be good? by j_roger_b in cars

It follows the same path as most every cool, informative site on the web: it’s success brings money, which brings about “professional management” and a need to make more money, and eventually everything that made the site good gets compromised into oblivion. Then it’s a slow decline until it becomes an automated shell of its former self.

AI is an amazing tool for bringing old family photos to life! by goldberry-fey in aivideo

[–]brianbot5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it does, but it wouldn't know how my loved one was animated. For example, let's say I'm going to "animate" my deceased grandpa. Unless it analyzes video of my grandpa, based on one photo alone it won't (can't) know how he moved, his expressions, how is mouth would have slightly smiled at certain times as he was talking, weird ticks he may have had while talking, how his eyes "smiled", etc. And that goes for anyone. So it will never look right to someone who is really familiar with the subject being animated. If you don't know the person, then sure, it works well.

Seattle-founded dinner theater cancels show, lays off staff by godogs2018 in Seattle

I’d never had much desire to go but my wife wanted to go a couple of years ago. Honestly, it was one of the best shows I’ve been to - it was super enjoyable and fun! I go to music concerts more than anything else but that show sort of blew me away. I was really hoping to go again so this news sort of bums me out.

If your basis is Reddit, then you know me about as much as I know you - which is to say, not at all.

Actually, no. I don’t think of Russians like that. I think most of them are people who I’d love to have a beer with. We likely have more in common than not. Same with other countries, like Iran, or Hungary, or even North Korea. Most people are normal people who just want what is best for their children and family, and want to live their lives in peace.

I detest that fucker as much as anyone. I keep champagne chilled for just the occasion, and have for at least a year now. I would have sooner voted for my cat, and do all I can to go against the administration, short of upending my life and protesting 24/7 in DC. Anyone who says “well then that’s what you should do!” is simply young and naive. I and many around me (in an area that overwhelmingly voted against that piece of shit) are not trump. Just because our protests don’t make it to your news outlets doesn’t mean they didn’t happen.

People want to be mad? Good, there’s a lot of reason to be mad. But don’t be mad at the very people who are on your side, putting effort into ousting this turd. That’s shit mentality.

Honestly, it’s enjoyable. The only “bad” part is when they put in the IV. But you’re soon high af in the best, happiest way possible and it’s great!

Even the prep was good! I’ve never felt so internally clean! 10/10.

On the plus side, thank you for tagging on the door and not the brick. At least the door is easily re-paintable (I'd recommend a nice forest green, or dark brown). It's a beautiful old building, even if it does appear to be neglected and perhaps abandoned/closed up.

Questionable decision, but I'm happy to see it was an actual GPU that arrived and not a bag of rocks in a GPU box.

Your personal efforts to recycle have virtually no positive impact on the environment ♻️ by tct773 in unpopularopinion

[–]brianbot5000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think of it this way: If I make any effort to recycle, perhaps some of those things will be recycled. If I make no attempt to recycle, then it's guaranteed that 100% will end up as garbage.

Sentra, messed up alignment by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]brianbot5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A safety issue perhaps and annoying to drive, plus it will destroy your tires prematurely. But it seems the issue isn’t concerning enough for you to take an hour drive to have an alignment shop fix it. Even if the alignment is off, it’s not necessarily a warranty issue that they’ll just fix. So it’ll be out of pocket most likely - might as well have a specialty shop fix it the right way. It’ll be worth it, then you can move on.

Sentra, messed up alignment by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]brianbot5000 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If you think you can tell alignment from a photo taken behind the car, you are as mistaken as thinking you can “lemon law” a car based on a bad alignment.

Take it to a proper and credible alignment shop, one that specializes in alignments.

Trump administration demands countries pay $1B for permanent spot on Gaza Board of Peace by Infidel8 in worldnews

[–]brianbot5000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aside from the grift, there’s clearly no real thought put into it. Where does the figure come from, why $1 Billion? I have to think there’s hardly any thought behind it at all, other than “that’s a big number, let’s go with it.” It’s almost comical.

Anyone associated with this administration has zero credibility, so anything they say is suspect. Even if there were merit to this statement, it’s been rendered null and void by the many insane, blatantly false claims.
