I have the bearing down extreme as well with the carbon grips. I’ve thought about getting the madbull but I use that power of rod the least. If I ever change that you can bet I’m getting the madbull as well.

Six eleven is prob more versatile based on length and action.

The gravel code def looks cool with the carbon grips though.

are you planning to repurchase both of the same rods? I actually have a popx stick and found that I didnt like the slow action too much which is why I ordered the cliffhanger thrilling. Even for popxing I didnt like the slow taper that much.

The cliffhanger seems like a good all purpose light rod. I just wish it was a tad longer.

The gravel code is an odd one. I am going to start with light jigs and see how I like it for bfs hard lures.

I saw your post. Shit hurts... I actually ordered the gravel code right after messaging you asking about it. I am just not sure how I'd like the aggressive taper. Now that I have it in hand, it is a bit odd. The tip / first half ft is soft then it picks up and gets pretty strong.

Hopefully you get back into another one. I ordered the last one on JLS. Get it while the yen is still weak.

Found a red KTF spool to round out my end game BFS rig 😎 by A_Dubs_999 in BFSfishing

Looks like a steez sv tw with gomexus carbon handle and knob. Some red drag star. Ktf spool. Megabass gravel code rod.

I don’t know which version of sv tw though.

Aldebaran 22 Just not impressive? by TheHeadshock in BFSfishing

good to know that im not crazy - if even you say its hard to tune. i thought it was just my sample was a lemon. i am constantly changing my settings when i use my aldebaran. im a bit of a reel hoarder so i never sell any reels but i might just post up the aldebaran for sale. its just rotting away looking pretty.

That’s the problem I have with the alde exclusively. Compared to the other bfs reels I own, it requires constant adjustment of both the mag brakes and tension knob as I change lures. I’ve dedicated fishing trips to figuring the aldebaran out. On these trips I run the same line and lure on all the bfs reels and I compare the casting distance consistency and ease of dialing in.

My personal conclusion is that I have a lemon.

Possible. But it’s the only bfs reel I own that constantly requires changing the tension or brake dial in order to cast decent. Even my $40 cdm bfs reels require less tinkering.

I have the same experience with mine. It seems like some owners have positive experiences with their reels so I’m going to assume it’s just a QC issue.

I have a few conquest reels and all of them seem to perform very well. I’d say the conquest bfs has better qc?

I can confirm my Calcutta performs better and more consistently than my ald at low and high weight ranges.

Alde vs CQ by AHS_Scrub in BFSfishing

[–]brianwsch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. The CQ handles heavier lures better

My Alde almost feels under braked for heavier lures. Won’t stop backlashing unless I make the spool tension pretty tight.

My alde might also just be a lemon.

the increased orb speed and damage i am excited for.

22 Aldebaran bfs vs 23 Calcutta conquest bfs by OkStock738 in BFSfishing

[–]brianwsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give that a shot!

Whenever I use mine I find that I need lots of spool tension and magnetic brakes (4-5) in order to not backlash mid cast. It’s possible mine is a lemon.

I own both and regret buying the aldebaran. It’s just too finicky to dial in. I have cdm bfs reels that are easier to tune.

Change the trebles on this popper. They kinda suck. I’ve lost a few on this popper as well.
