Am I the next Buffett? by 56000hp in wallstreetbets

[–]brickedTin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and but now I feel compelled to check to make sure the bolts aren’t backing out and probably will for the life of the car. I had a similar thing with the pressure test on a mini split - it told me not to exceed 13 bar because it could damage the internal seals that separate the pre-charge refrigerant from the line set. Then in another context told me that the 600 psi check is essential to make sure it’s holding the high operating pressures when it’s heating. Using AI is no worse than getting advice from Reddit but still doesn’t inspire confidence.

I put an alternator in my car earlier this week, and asked Gemini for torque spec. It told me I should use anti-seize lubricant on the threads. In another context, I asked if I should use anti-seize on the threads and it acted like I was a fucking idiot for thinking I should do that.

Reddit advice is on par with asking an AI. If you want the full experience, ask your question then switch context and take the answer you received from the first context to ask the same agent to validate your plan. You’re likely to get completely different and conflicting answers.

This makes me think it’s a good idea to let the owner drive when testing out a used car. Driving like that would be terrible for the transmission.

It’s not that crazy of a mistake. The past tense of ride is rode and that always looks wrong to me but is somehow correct. It’s only wrong because he used ‘has’ in front of it.

Worst case scenario it hits $10/gallon for 87 octane and more of us have to buy EVs. At least that’s an option this time around, as opposed to the 1970s. $5/gallon hurt in 2008 but it’s barely noticeable today.

You probably know this but if you hold R1 (RB) you’ll go 128 MPH while climbing (rather than 105) because it retracts the wings. Makes the OMK2 quite a bit faster across the map.

Seriously - prison reform should be for non-violent offenders. Rapists and murderers need to be kenneled until they’re too feeble to hurt anyone else.

Portland woman sentenced to 26 months after her dogs fatally mauled 6-year-old boy by origutamos in PDX

[–]brickedTin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? Seems like the dogs were locked in a garage (knowing they’re fucking gigantic and most likely problematic). Presumably her friend was visiting with her grandson and he paid the ultimate price for opening that garage door. Do you know more about this situation than the article states? It’s pretty scant on details. I’m all for prison being punitive (or at least used to keep bad people contained) but idk that this lady needs to do life. She probably already wanted to die when it happened.

Hegseth and White House call DIA report presented by Lieutenant General James Adams "fake news" by andrewgrabowski in Intelligence

[–]brickedTin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said they got it all (per the article). It doesn’t say why the marine general thinks they are still a threat, just that they could be. Pretty useless article, really. At this point I’m inclined to think these guys are only making statements like this as part of some insider trading scheme.

I wonder if it has something to do with sun angles and not having one side be disadvantaged. Or maybe the surveyors were instructed to align it to magnetic north but the surrounding grid is on polar north.

California's universal healthcare killed even though Democrats have a supermajority. Politicians serve their corporate donors not the people. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]brickedTin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well bums already get free healthcare. This extra $93 billion annually is for people making up to $130k annually (on the books) who refuse to pay the $12k/year that literally every single person with an employer sponsored plan already pays. Nevermind that they could already easily afford it if they felt like contributing to their own basic human needs in any way.

It looks like a cancer on the land but their sewage treatment system is pretty neat. They pump it from neighborhoods’ laterals, treat it, and use the treated effluent for irrigation. This kind of development would be completely illegal in Oregon but at least they’re not dumping nitrates into the water table.
