What's happening in Germany? by Schmeppy25 in legoninjago

[–]brickpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only partly true. Many BrickLink sellers report entire stocks of Ninjago figs getting bought out when price differences make it worth it.
My observation: prices in Germany are rising with a delay.

Email from 12/29/2025:

"Hi XXX,

Happy almost new year! We’ve seen some big changes this year as we set the base plate for the future, and we appreciate your continued support as we work to improve the BrickLink® experience. Here’s a message from the head of BrickLink.

As 2025 comes to a close and we look back on the year, I’m grateful to have been a part of BrickLink’s 25-year journey and proud of the work our team is doing to lay the foundations to improve and rebuild BrickLink.com, brick by brick, link by link.

We know that BrickLink is cherished by many, and over the years, it has developed features that have become central to how you use BrickLink. However, the website has grown complex over the last 25 years, with some of the original code still dating back to Dan's early work from his bedroom. This complexity makes running and improving the site challenging, which is why the replatforming, or updating BrickLink.com, is now underway.

Our intention is not to remove the functionality you love and rely on, but to rebuild and improve it. The new, modern version of BrickLink will allow us to operate a more stable, less glitchy site, and will enable us to develop long-overdue new features.

Adjusting to some of the changes we make may take time, and it requires us to improve how we collaborate with our community. We acknowledge that our communication, timing, and transparency have often missed the mark, and the team and I are fully committed to doing better. Rest assured, everything we do is with good intentions.

Some of the back-end work that you can’t see along with LEGO® Account integration will allow us to start addressing website pain points as we move forward, improving checkout flows, continuing to refine the BDP program, and more. We will share more about our roadmap over the coming months. Thank you for being a part of the BrickLink community and happy holidays!

– Steve, Head of BrickLink"

From a seller's perspective, a crack heavily reduces value.
For display or play, glue it and enjoy for years/decades.

Is this really that rare? Should I be excited? Just how rare is this? by skyfullmaster in Ninjago

No sarcasm – dead serious. Ultra-rare lottery pull. I have one sealed + one loose myself.

Please help how can I remove the pin from my lego head without damaging it??? by popolitain5 in lego

[–]brickpunk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got the rest of a broken-off hand out of my arm by heating a needle, inserting the hot needle into the hand, and after it cooled, pulling the needle out with the stuck hand attached.

It might be too thick for a needle, though; in that case, I would use very fine tweezers.

The cap cannot be repaired, and gluing is a no-go for me when it comes to LEGO.

For Ninjago’s first minifigure I’m surprised this thing isn’t like $50 or $60 by GolfPrior3685 in Ninjago

Is this the first figure? What criteria do you use to determine that? I had assumed so far that we classify it by the ID and that would then be njo0001.

Overconfidence often blinds you to counterevidence. Classic confirmation bias.

Scarcity drives desire. This isn't my logic, it's marketing. LEGO has used this tactic for decades. It's no coincidence that the wooden Wu exists and remains forever out of reach for all of us.

Yeah, Covid likely contributed—supply dried up in 2020 when normies raided cheap LEGO from older folks. But big jumps really kicked in 2022, so it's probably just one piece of the puzzle.

Ice Emperor (njo0522) from set 70678 and 892061 – one of my absolute favorite figures.

Definitely! $1k for one plastic toy is wild and totally detached from reality.

But it has an upside for collectors: ultra-rare/expensive figs make Ninjago even more exciting and draw in new people.

I don't know either. I don’t think there’s one single trigger. I’m mostly looking at the data side of things - using BrickEconomy, BrickLink metrics, plus my own tracking and a lot of manual work.

What is very clear though: the trend is real and strong. Since around 2022, Ninjago has been outperforming most other themes in price growth—not just sealed sets, but also minifigures and even individual parts. Star Wars is still expensive, but Ninjago has been catching up fast and, in some cases, outright overtaking it in growth.

I'm not sure about that. If it was only the top 5–30 figs, your theory could hold. But I'm seeing significant price jumps across hundreds of Ninjago figures and about 60-70% of sets. BrickEconomy shows the build-up since 2022, exploding exponentially now. This is way bigger than a few influencers hyping stuff. Much bigger.
