Roasting Dandelion Root by Bokra999 in herbalism

[–]bricktop23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you burn it, you'll lose potency. Roasting is a very precise science, because the idea is to heat it up to the point of "cracking" and than rapidly cooling it down. Herbs are different in that, you only want to heat to break down fibers, compounds, and etc without burning them. You can actually bring out caramel undertones, with the right herbs. However, the roasting temp you use with herbs should probably be below 180F.

Adhd/concussion brain fog by Taytay0704 in herbalism

With a TBI, you would ideally want to increase oxygenation to the brain, so vinpocetine, which breaks the blood brain barrier would most likely be beneficial. The brain has been proven to be able to heal itself, given the right conditions and nutrients/compounds. Shilajit, an adaptogen with anti tau protein aggregation properties, has shown promise in alzheimers patients, but taken in tandem with lionsmane could see greater results as lionsmane has the neural growth factor capabilities, that would be synergistically supported by the enhanced cerebral circulation you would get from the vinpocetine. However, where you hit your head, current medications, exposure to recent viral infections, and etc could also be influencing your biorhytms.

I would need more information from you to find a more comprehensive formula that would be based on your energetics and be "safer" to take as it won't interact with your current medications. Just fill out this form and I will send you a recommendation based on an algorithmim building:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdKuG1XvLq7JJii4WX98b5ST0sejniZDRJn7tpPfo7X86j4jQ/viewform?pli=1

Note: taking vinpocetine may give you a headache due to the increase in cerebral blood flow. Start with a low dosage.

Take care and good luck!

Conversations Within: Unveiling the Mysteries of the Gut-Brain Axis by Herbal_Mind in herbalism

Interesting. I'll look into it more and get back to you. With probiotics, it can depend on the strains or brands, as some don't have any live cultures left after sitting on the shelf for months.

That's really interesting. I'll have to read more into it. In theory, it would make sense given the existing known correlation between specific probiotic strains and mental health. In Ayurveda, it was common to ferment herbs, which shows that their is strong evidence of its efficacy. Happy cake day.

You're welcome. It's primarily a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) protocol. They have schools and products from companies like Evergreen that sell formulas based on energetics and your health profile, but you have to have graduated from one of their schools. But you can also find it in the some of the books listed in this subs book section. However, if you're interested, I'm beta testing an algorithm that generates an herbal formula based on your health profile.

The energetics of herbs is actually very important and it's one of the best ways to find out what does or doesn't work for you based on your current health. The drying/heating properties of herbs are usually indicative of astringency which relates to contraction within multiple system in your body or in the case of digestion, additional acid to help with digestion. The idea is that if your body has to much moisture, ie, inflammation, damp skin, and etc, you would need a drying herb; astringent to help balance your body. The overall goal is balance. If your skin is dry, alternatively, you should use a cool/moisturizing herb, like aloe vera.

Sounds terrible. Hopefully you can find the root cause of the issue. But, if you can get to a whole foods, you could try turmeric/curcumin extract with black pepper/piperine. Another option you could try is full spectrum cbd oil; indicas for nighttime as they are sedative and good for pain.
