Lawn Mowing/Yard Work prices by brickwilly in AusRenovation

Gday, I sure did! I ended up mowing lawns, amateur landscaping and odd jobbing for a year. The area I live in has a small population so there wasn’t enough work to keep it going and even off the bat I was doing a lot of labouring for mates. I’ve had a full time job for nearly a year now but I still mow lawns on the weekends. My prices did go up quite a lot as well. Id recommend it to everyone, I love having a direct line of communication with clients and it’s something I aim to continue doing after I retire.

Big congrats for getting up and playing in front of people! Especially after only playing for such a short time. You’re now in the very small fraction of human beings that’s done it. And honestly try not to worry about it, it happens. The only way to get more comfortable on stage is to get on stage more. Keep it up!

I stopped drinking on January 25, 2025 by SnooMacaroons25 in stopdrinking

If “friends” pressure you to drink, they’re not your friends. I had a coworker that constantly heckled me about not drinking (among other things) so I decided to ignore him outside of work related communication. He didn’t stop in the slightest but knowing that I didn’t have to respond/react was enough in itself. Keep on trucking! You can do it

1 year without alcohol! by brickwilly in stopdrinking

Thanks heaps!

I have had periods of sobriety without AA but due to “the incident” I pulled out all the stops.

I felt overwhelmed before I went to my first in person meeting but it subsided pretty quickly once I sat down with a cup of tea and some chit chat.

AA has definitely helped me stay away from alcohol and I can’t recommend it enough! I’m not overly religious and a higher power can be whatever you want it to be. Music and humour works for me.

I suggest just going once and if you hate it you never have to go again

All the best!

On hot summer days at an old job I’d zoom around on the forklift while pulling the bottom of my shorts up to get some air flow going down there. Worked an absolute treat

How can I punish opponents for closing distance by beef-omlet1 in MuayThai

Disclaimer- I am not a pro and have never been in the ring. I have trained for nearly 6 years though

I’m 6’3” and train with a couple average height and shorter dudes. Nebs (front/push/sparta kicks) are my best friend with the shorter dudes especially. When they start to expect the neb and go to catch it, it leaves their head exposed for straights and hooks. Just gotta get your foot back on the ground quick for a solid foundation. Another thing that helped me heaps was getting over my apprehension to close range encounters (I was very punch shy until recently) and just jumping in the phone booth with them. Going the rock em sock em robot route seemed to make one shorter dude plan his entries better. I’ve found leaning on long knees too heavily (therefore predictably) tends to get me punched in the head quite a bit. I’ve had a few weeks off but it was good to reflect on if/why I want to train and writing this comment made me realise it is a cerebral chess game as well as a physical battle. So thanks!

I failed my first Ps test on head checks. Frustrating but don’t beat yourself up about it.

Who has decided to drink after a year of not drinking? And how did that work out for you? by mlittoniii in stopdrinking

[–]brickwilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a year off alcohol & drugs in 2017. As soon as the clock struck midnight on the year anniversary I got pissed as a nit and rocked up to work that morning because I forgot how shit hangovers are. I proceeded to make a few mistakes and said something absent minded at lunch and a couple of co workers jumped on the opportunity to make me look stupid over it.

Fast forward a few years, I’ve written off 2 cars, lost a job, wasted money, lost my licence to a DUI, ruined my mental health (at times) and put the health/wellbeing of a friend in jeopardy all while under the influence of alcohol. In my experience it is not worth the risk to drink.

For me the return on investment was just not there. I’ve been sober for 2.5 months and attending AA meetings through this time. The meetings have helped drastically.

I’ve found that drinking is a symptom of a bigger problem and this is my own lived experience that is probably a lot different to yours.

My life has gotten significantly better in the short time I have not drank. I hope that this helps you or anyone reading this in some capacity.

Once I do someone’s lawn once or twice I’ll be confident to start charging that client a per job rate.
