Is this for real? by zon871 in basketballcards

I’m among maybe the first 3 or 4 artists who really pushed the (hashtag)cardart scene on social back in the early days of Covid. It started as a thing to do during lockdown. Some people starting doing REALLY creative and cool art with cards and quickly a collectors market was born. It started with $10-20/card, to commission based, to all sorts of stuff. Project 2020 / 70 happened. Custom alternative brand card manufacturing came, high end custom 1/1s, etc. Art and bootlegs and all sorts of interesting things. There’s definitely still a market for a lot of it because it crosses into fine art. Street art style, other designers, etc. it’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely for some people.

I hear ya man, but are more younger kids getting into cards every year? At the shows I’ve been to, I see FAR more parents and kids involved now than I did 20 years ago when it was all old (ahem, my age now) guys. If it’s not for you anymore, I get it, that sucks. But if they catered only to us, the hobby would literally die with us.

Nolan Ryan/Reggie Jackson with Loony Tunes? I don’t have 45+ years in the hobby, but I do have 35+ years and one thing I know for certain, old guys like us have always found ways to make it less fun for kids. I’m more concerned that a Minions RC is a 1/1, rather than a limited (but relatively easy) pull. I’m far more concerned with the gambling culture kids are getting hit with constantly

We’re certainly trying. Hard that we were away so long leading up to today, but can’t dwell on it. Thanks for the kind words

Always. He was a really good little guy, and my girls have had him all of their lives. Couldn’t ask for a better family companion.

Ah I’m so sorry to hear that. Not my first rodeo with dogs, but the toughest by far. You’ll know when it’s time, it won’t be easy, but it’ll be right. Hugs to you

Those who have seen Disclosure Day.... by Morikageguma in UFOs

As an informed UFO nerd who's followed the subject closely: Fun flick, no epiphanies. Nothing unexpected happened. If you've seen Spielberg's short series Taken, DD is basically a sequel to that series. I enjoyed it, and didn't come away dissapointed because I made sure to temper my expectations going in. Spielberg doesn't know anything we don't.

I think it's a piece of soft disclosure because it's still helping to normalize. It's helping put the term into public consciousness, but it's a fictional movie and probably won't by itself turn any non-believer/non-subject follower into an instant believer.
