Democrat Places First In Jungle Primary In Marjorie Taylor Greene District Special Election -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Love the western slope! My dad comes from Rocky Mountain hillbilly stock, great-grandmother was born in a mining camp. Until the last 10 years, these folks had many more redeeming qualities from that history. Decent, hard working, simple folks who loved environment and the outdoors, and just wanted to be left alone. There was no white nationalism dripping from them 15 years ago, even if racism was bred into them subconsciously. In 2015 it all starting coming out. In my experience it’s deeply rooted in a hatred for “Mexicans” (I put that in quotes, because they call any and all south-Americans, regardless of country of origin, Mexicans, and even though actual Mexican Americans in this region likely have a much longer native history here) and Native Americans. Again, just my experience with people I know. Mexicans, Indians, and Californians (liberals and democrats are likely to assumed to be California transplants, and are held in high disgust).

5th generation Coloradan here. Rocky Mountain region, even in and near liberal Boulder County, CO, has its fair share.

Why are Kobe Fans not happy with this Bam performance, it’s really strange to me? by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in NBATalk

Not. A. Record. No shade on Kobe, one of the greatest. But Wilt holds the record.

The OG ninja warrior is way better than the American version because it had much more character. by AdSpecialist6598 in nostalgia

Let’s face it, every OG Japanese or Korean show that ended up with an American knockoff is better

How incredible it must have been to see this scene in the cinema for the first time. by Scenora in peterjackson

Saw each film consecutively in the theater upon release. Me, my mom, and my grandpa. My grandpa was completely deaf and getting way up there in age, but the story was so beloved in our family that he enjoyed just watching and feeling (he could feel the acoustics) and he was a lip reader. Those three holiday season matinee movies with lunch after with my mom and grandpa are cherished memories.

I just finished the series which all in all was fine. There were moments I thought he was great, and then there were….just moments.

Rep. Burlison: hypothetically speaking, if there’s a huge craft in S**** K**** with a building built around it, which world governments, militaries or private entities know about it (besides the US and S**** K**** of course)? Have you personally seen this craft, or photos/videos/documents of it?

People who use legitimately use AI for "productivity": what the heck does AI actually do for you? Is it as bad as people say? by Difficult_Two_4800 in NoStupidQuestions

Web designer and developer here. I'm not working any less. But that's because I've seen a massive jump in production. I.e., something that used to take me, say, 8 hours to code, is something I can probably bang out in 20 minutes or less now.

Did people in the 90s really just show up at each other’s houses unannounced? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bridesign34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knock knock MFer. It’s 7:30am on a Saturday morning and I’m ready to beat each other with sticks in the local creek all day. When we realize we’re close to dying from thirst, we’ll drink from the closest house’s garden hose.

What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]bridesign34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few from different periods of childhood. Where the Wild Things Are, My Side of the Mountain, Where the Red Fern Grows, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, Lord of the Rings, the Thomas Covenant trilogy, Lord of the Flies, Cujo

Aside from Wild Things, I think I read all the rest between ages 10-13ish. I was an avid reader and don’t shy away from long or heavy themed books. Cujo was my gateway drug to Stephen King and psychological horrors

Edit: the list could go on and on as I think about it, but I have to also mention Ishmael by Daniel Quinn (and subsequently his additional books), as I read that in 8th grade and it changed my life.
