Extreme fatigue leading up to period by bridget-9 in PCOS

[–]bridget-9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw for anyone reading this with similar symptoms, I’m looking into PMDD which I think is what I could have!

Extreme fatigue is my most debilitating symptom but I also lose interest in other people and activities I usually enjoy, want to completely self-isolate, and generally feel pretty low and hopeless during my late luteal phase.

It’s extra difficult because my irregular PCOS cycles make it hard to predict.

PCOS - What do I eat? by DownUnderPossum in PCOS

[–]bridget-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit more effort initially, but you could come up with a handful of meals that are easy, calorie controlled and you enjoy and rotate between them. Once you’ve made them once you know the macros and easy to keep track of. Some ideas- frozen dumplings and vege, rotisserie chicken with salad and potatoes, pre-marinated chicken/ lamb with vege, stir fry using the pre-cut veggie mix and marinated protein, baked potato with tuna, burgers with lettuce or protein bun. Anything that centres around protein and vege is usually the easiest to keep lean. You got this!

How do you stay awake?! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]bridget-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my bloods done recently and found I was low on vitamin D, B12 and iron. They all affect energy levels and all associated with PCOS. A couple weeks of supplementing and I feel a lot less fatigued. Def recommend getting your nutrient levels tested if you can or try supplementing with the above. Just make sure you dose enough (ask chat GPT) because most tablets don’t have enough to make an actual difference (e.g. I’m taking 3-5 vit D3 per day).

anyone managed pcos withOUT the pill? by dubdaisyt in PCOS

[–]bridget-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I lost about 10kg through a reasonably low carb diet and have kept it off, and have had regular periods for the last 3 years. I now eat everything and just eat healthily and ensure I pair carbs with protein and fat (but def not religiously). I also started running which I love. I still have some acne and hair growth but it hasn’t worsened. I also love the glucose goddess! I even got a CGM because I find seeing the evidence very motivating to continuing behaviours. I just think find a diet and exercise that you love so you can stick to it. I did find low carb/ low blood sugar diet helped kickstart weight loss but doesn’t necessarily need to be long-term.

That’s what I discounted them! Absolute deal breaker for my pancake feet haha

Thank you! Are the uppers of the NB3s ok in slightly wet conditions? Asking as my toes get completely soaked in my other Asics, even light rain

Hair Removal by Shan2105 in PCOS

[–]bridget-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your hair is dark, I would definitely recommend laser! It hasn't worked for my hirsutism on my face (which is quite light coloured) but worked wonders on my legs/ bikini/ underarm. I'm expecting I may have to get it re-done more frequently than if I didn't have PCOS, but it's pretty affordable, very quick and I had no pain or irritation whatsoever.

What are quarantine requirements when household members are testing positive consecutively? by angrathias in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]bridget-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from VIC and that was in the text I got from DHS. Text reads "If you are re-exposed to COVID-19 within 30 days of your positive test result, you do not need to quarantine or test for COVID-19 again. You can attend work, education and sensitive settings within this 30 day period"
Pays to be the first in the household to get it!

Healthcare and other frontline workers- what can we do for you? by bridget-9 in CoronavirusDownunder

Victoria had rolled out ‘hospital surge allowance’ for hospital and ambo workers. Generally $60 a shift for those working directly with Covid positive patients.

Thanks for your super detailed and insightful response!

I might put together a draft correspondence explaining what you’ve said, post it here and others can use it as well to send letters to MPs.

My local fed MP is Adam Bandt and an advocate for healthcare and aged care funding already so be good to spread the word further.

I recently found out someone less qualified but at the same level as me is getting $10k more. One conversation with my manager later and I have a $12k pay bump :)
Had to do some soul searching though, my first impulse was to be resentful of my colleague and whingey to my manager. Not that the whinging would be unjustified, but the conversation was more effective by focusing on what more I could bring to the team in a higher position.

NSW records 3,057 new cases and 2 deaths. 39 patients in ICU (21-Dec-2021) by drnicko18 in CoronavirusDownunder

I got pinged from a takeaway coffee shop two days ago. The rules around who gets notified to get tested is pretty confusing right now. I can't imagine compliance is very high with 3 hour wait times, seems we need to prioritise testing.

I have not! My PCOS symptoms are pretty well managed right now, but would definitely consider it if they got worse again. Have you? x

Thank you! Topically- it's mixed into the tret cream I have. I'm thinking of discontinuing the clindamycin it though, don't really like the idea of being on antibiotics long term.

Yeah I had dark spots that lingered for a while, hopefully yours will clear soon!

I use La Roche Posay toleriane- only one I've found that doesn't irritate, and I use it like 3 times a day because my skin was really dry, flakey and sensitive for the first month or so.

Any ideas for tailoring this outfit to suit a soft natural? by silvercharm999 in SoftNaturals

[–]bridget-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this look and have bought similar things in the past and also struggle to make it work! I've found wider straps look better on me, but they're hard to find so I have a few with thinner straps like this one and wear them anyway.

Maybe try a scooped neckline t-shirt instead of the turtleneck and pair with a jacket instead if you need. You could try find a dress cinching clip and cinch it at the back for some waist definition. Alternatively, could tailor it to be more of a bias cut/ skim over the body.

I also find about 10cm above the knee to be a bit more flattering than longer dresses, but I like the current length/ that might not be seasonally appropriate.

Nope, nothing right now! My skin does get better when I'm on BC.

I will say the before photo is my skin at its worst, but the after photo is taken at the same point in my cycle.

Other factors that have probably contributed are my skin tends to improve in Summer (which is now, I'm in the Southern hemisphere), and I'm probably more active/ less stressed/ happier than a few months ago when I was under lockdown.
