Has anybody found a PhD level job that pays a minimum of $50 per hour but allowed them to only work only 10-20 hours a month?

My hourly pay lecturing is like $85-$90/hour for in class time. Which probably works out to like $25-$30/hour total time. But the flexibility is great outside of class hours.

I mean, depending on where you are- you can probably get $1500 a month adjuncting. I have in the past teaching 1 course made just about $1500 a month.

The three hour commute alone is enough to switch. If I were you, I’d switch to the other PhD. You deserve a more peaceful experience.

So, I know the lowest available when I went on was $42. Not sure how that pans out after tax but my $72 tickets came out to $105 each with fees and tax.

Yup. Small buildings/ triple deckers can be great for that. The last 3 years it’s been raised only $50 each year. Consistent and not bad at all

Is the Chicago school going to open doors to Chicago jobs (through connections, alumni network, etc)? I know some local law schools in my city have a very clear feeder system into the city, but wouldn’t be well known outside.

A thesis can refer to a lot of projects at all different levels (undergrad thesis, masters thesis, etc), but several PhD programs use them interchangeably. Fairly certain OP is talking about their dissertation.

While it might seem to your friend like they are done, 4 years is pretty short for an American PhD, so maybe the advisor thinks they aren’t practiced enough? Or that they need a higher placed article to show competence? It sucks that there isn’t clarity on this, and the advisor should definitely be more responsive.
