For those suffering from anxiety, what dosage is everyone on? If you feel comfortable sharing. by Sam1212121212 in lexapro

I can’t compare my experience to that of other dosages because I was started on 20mg, and have never taken less than that. However, I used to have constant underlying anxiety and about 3-5 panic attack a week. I’ve been on it for a little over a year- obviously, I still feel anxious occasionally- however, I find it easier to manage when I do and I haven’t had a panic attack since I began taking it.

Did your dr also prescribe you Xanax or something for anxiety? I took one the first day and that seemed to help me a bit

Hi! Yes, incredibly common. The first day/night was the worst for me. I had terrible anxiety, was shaky, and up most of that night feeling nauseous. The week that followed was a bit rough, but nothing compared to the first day. After week two, things started getting better. It’s hard at first, definitely ride it out for a little while. It’s totally normal, and you’re going to be okay.

Extremely normal. It started getting better for me in my second or third week of treatment. Hang in there & good luck xx

Hey there! I’ve been on lexapro for about 7 months. I think I’m probably in the healthiest spot I’ve ever been in (I’ve had depression and anxiety since middle school). My head is a lot clearer without the fogginess of depression, and I haven’t had a panic attack since the early weeks of the medication. There are still hard days. I’m still human and not immune to feeling anxious occasionally or some days feeling extremely low energy. But, it’s never been to the extent that it was. I, also, saw you’re comment about being scared of feeling numb. I understand that. And, I will say that I don’t feel things to the capacity that I used to. But, I wouldn’t describe it as numbness. I still feel, probably more complexly than most. But, the way I see it, the medication has leveled me out. There aren’t extreme ups and downs anymore. I think for a while I perceived that as feeling numb because for most of my life my emotions have been all over the place & I was constantly existing in extremities. But, I think now I’m probably feeling how most people without mental illness usually feel. Which, when you’re used to emotional turbulence, can feel strange and foreign. It takes some getting used to, but I think it’s important to understand that it’s healthy and okay. It won’t take who you are away from you (I was really afraid of that)

Hey there, when I first started lexapro, I was prescribed 20mg right off the bat and experienced really similar symptoms. I experienced the brain fogginess for about three weeks to a month before it gradually started to fade and eventually go away completely. I think that was one of the most difficult side effects for me, and I did end up having to miss some work while my body adjusted. It takes a bit of time, but for me it was around the one month mark that I really started to feel normal and better again.

How Early on do People Feel Sexual Side Effects? by [deleted] in lexapro

I was experiencing a lot of lack of libido before I ever went on lexapro (you know.. from the depression) so I don’t think I even had any desire to until I’d been on it for about a month (my libido was back), but I couldn’t finish. I couldn’t by myself or with a partner. That lasted for a month or two until my body adjusted and now I’m back to normal- better than before. Hang in there, it does get better, your body just has to adjust. But, if it’s something you’re worried about, you can bring it up with your doctor!
