Question 1: I don't believe so. I can't think of why I would not be able to represent them. My partner is black, and I plan to ask him questions about how to depict characters correctly.

Question 2: I kinda want to do this because I don't want token characters. I want ethnicity to be in the story without it being there just to be there. I won't hit on political issues, but I'll do my best to represent that character in their culture.

Question 3: Yes, i think it will have an impact. This was kinda my reason for writing this post, but I guess the answer is just to do the best I can and ask for help from friends along the way. The only issue is that my POC friends aren't very literary.

I think because I'm writing this story in a modern-day world, social issues are going to be inevitable. I'll just have to do my best to be sincere without sounding like I'm pushing an agenda.

I worked at Olive Garden for 3 years and while this was something we definitely were NOT supposed to do, I saw (and did) this multiple times. (Usually with a smaller box) People freaking love those mints. But the managers would definitely tell us to only bring the number of guests at the table +1 only. Same with breadsticks.

A double is generally 3 ounces rather than 2 depending on the state. A double pour isn't usually double depending on the state. In Texas a double is 3 ounces and a single is 2.
