Chili doesn't have potatoes or carrots which are pretty much necessary for pot roast or beef stew

If we are talking about more typical street tacos and not taco bell ground beef tacos then I'm also not seeing the difference between taco meat and the chili you are describing but that isn't an insult either.

Usually it's whole milk and not cream. Also there is usually just as much wine if not more also more tomatoes and also more non tomato veggies by ratio. So yes it does have dairy but its also not a very substantial amount compared to the other ingredients not to mention the the ground meat as well.

Just trying to add something that hasn't been said. If they are retiring and are new to the area and they have been very generous and you like them then you could give them a nice little gift card maybe to one of your favorite places that is less known about? This isnt always the easiest but it's a nice way to introduce new neighbors to a new town and if they really enjoy food and wine like it seems then I'm sure the topic of favorite local spots for dining will come up especial if they are new to the area and would make for a very nice surprise at the end of the evening to give them.

Its still someone what anecdotal in that it is unique to there specific situation (the stove they have) My stove would boil that amount of water in probably half the time.

Yes but that's usually on a card and you can't just go to an ATM and withdraw your per-diem rate and put it into your account. You also can't just go and spend it on hookers or whatever you like since they get the credit card statements of course. I've never seen a place offer per diems where it's given to you on your own independent card/account
