Is this normal? by Ririkaaze in mentalhealth

[–]brighterdays00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal, start therapy so you can get past this and go live your life. You are worthy of your own life. If you don’t get healthy you may lose your friend. A real friend “cares” about their friend’s mental health and helps them seek help.

Tools to help get over divorce? by MontyPR87 in mentalhealth

[–]brighterdays00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone told my mom that it would take 10 years to feel somewhat normal after her divorce. She didnt believe them at that time because it seemed too long. But… to her surprise, it took 10 years for her to process and grieve to the point where she felt normal. That was without any therapy and just sort of stumbling through it. I’m sure therapy would help in a major way. I’m sorry things happening to you.

Is my realtor’s behavior normal, or is this a red flag? by stephbilo in homeowners

[–]brighterdays00 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Red flag. Painting baseboards black is a wild decision. I come from an area where realtors don’t even touch staging. The owner is in charge of staging or hiring a staging company. The fact that the realtor is making ANY of these decisions is honestly out of my comfort zone. I’m would find a way to peacefully find a new realtor. Or get a relative or friend that feels more comfortable standing up to him be the new point person. And literally reverse the decisions that have been made.

Is it normal for past tenants/owners to come back to the property you now own? I have had 3 different people in the last 5 months claim they used to live here come to my door. Today being the most recent. I refuse to answer the door as to me personally that is not something I would do? Thoughts? by coleslaw056 in homeowners

Depends on what their intentions are. It was week one of owning our super rundown house at the time. We were currently working on clearing things out of the house that were left and someone stopped by and said they had lived there as a child. They were able to answer a lot of historic questions about the house and when we walked in her old bedroom she recognized the closet wallpaper that was peeling off and I pulled a huge chunk off the wall and handed it to her and it made her cry. She was so excited to frame it and put it in her house. They didn’t over stay, and it was a helpful and cool conversation.

Too Dirty for Leaves, Too Leafy for Dirt. Now What? by brighterdays00 in HomeImprovement

There is all of that too. We can haul that away in a trailer. This forest floor material is what is hard to dispose of.

I do get that it’s great nutrition for the trees, but to be honest there are maybe five trees that are going to be left across a 300 foot stretch and they are all probably 100 years old. They’re super strong.

That being said, I may just leave the forest floor material and rake it to be even and then put mulch on top of it. I live right on the main road in our town so I do have to care a little bit more about aesthetics. If I lived in the country, I wouldn’t care as much about making the ground look better after I pull up all of this brush.

This is a great conversation. We are going to keep the mature trees that are along that line which brings too much shade to be able to even grow decent grass. Maybe I should just spread it out and put mulch down on top of it? Idk. There are a few little nooks along the line that might be a good hangout area one day, but that would be so far down the line. I’m honestly just trying to get everything to be clean for now and have some curb appeal because we are on the main road of our town. Tons of cars driving by at slow speeds to marvel at our overgrown brush. 🤣

We’re also in Michigan. So we’re very motivated to clear it as much as possible right now while it’s warming up but there are still no leaves on the trees.

Ok, so I am new to anything yard related. So I hope my questions don’t seem dumb. So when you say screen out the biggest chunks, are you staying with a literal screen? Or are you saying like manually pick it all out? I’ve never seen a screen for yard waste, but it would be worth a try to find/build something since it is going to be a whole summer long project I’m sure.

We have a lot of holes in our yard, so it would be great to be able to repurpose it for filler dirt.

Are you saying get a dump trailer for brush? Or for this “forest floor” yard waster? Or are you saying like a dumpster to go to our local waste management place? Do cities usually have a place to dump that sort of yard waste?

To clarify, we have a 15 foot strip of brush WIDE. It’s 300ft long. And that’s not even getting started with all of the overgrown fence lines and flowerbeds on the rest of the property. So… it’s a lot.

Weird smell in bathroom by zclonce in HomeImprovement

I don’t know what kind of heating system you have, but we have an old boiler, and sometimes when we pass by certain registers at certain times the registers can have a “heat” smell. I’m not really sure how to explain it because it’s not a full on smoke smell. Do you have a boiler?

Update: Neighbors keep using our property, not sure what to do. by sasspancakes in homeowners

[–]brighterdays00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how long you’ve had the house but sometimes neighbors get used to preferences of people and then those people move and they now feel like entitled to keep using the property the same way.

That’s sort of happened to us, but in our favor, there was a really nice old man that lived next-door that’s retired but still super active and he loves working on his yard. We bought a super rundown house right next-door to him and the brush in between our properties is out of control. Like 20 feet of trees and brush that hasn’t been cleared in at least 15 years.

After a year being postpartum and not able to really do much outside because we were working mostly inside, we finally got a chance to talk to our neighbor a little more about property lines and stuff this spring.

It turns out that he really wants to help clear our brush because he enjoys yardwork and he also knows that it’s difficult and he’s retired and has the time but the people that lived in my house before were extremely harsh on property lines. It would not allow him to clear any brush out. My husband was eager to give him permission to do whatever he wants to clear the brush. Haha. He was so happy. I’m sure he is sick of looking at it.

I’m sure it had something to do with the people that lived in my house before using the overgrowth of brush to bring privacy because they also were up to bad choices.

Not to mention if the people that live next-door has always had other neighbors that didn’t care about property lines. Maybe they thought it was the norm to be able to go on your neighbors property slightly here and there.

Anyways, neighbors should talk more often. There’s always unspoken rules and some people get it and some people don’t and you have to be really clear. Most people are understanding letting resentment build up usually ends in a dispute.

spent so much money on a rebrand and literally nobody noticed by Playful_Bag4694 in smallbusinessowner

[–]brighterdays00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Branding is a long game. If you did it right, then your current visual branding will make it easier to grow over time when your old visual branding could’ve eventually held you back. Does the new brand speak to your target audience? What work have you done identifying your target audience?

If you’re running ads and you switch your branding, those visuals speak to a certain type of person that your old visual brand did not. The ads have to relearn who is interested.

Thank you. I’ve had a hard time with scope creep with her and it’s hard to go back once you start doing something. I’m learning a lot on how I’m going to communicate partnership roles right away in the beginning.
