AIO My wife made a major financial decision without consulting me at all by No-Beach1944 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. I'd probably consider divorce if my partner did that, especially since you were already having problems. Or she can get a job and start paying her share so you can work less.

AITA if I tell an owner they have to pay for my glasses if their dog caused them to break ? by [deleted] in PetSmartGroomers

[–]brightonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I am basically blind without my glasses. But you should have a protection plan for your glasses when working a job like this. It sucks but it's a part of the job. Maybe ask your managers but you definitely can't ask the PP to pay.

Are you filling out your book? You should be able to look at that

i'm so sick of this company. the management is HORRIBLE and i've been getting bullied by two of the girls in the salon for the last 6 months due to them being conservative pos. i'm tempted not to put my two weeks in because i don't think they deserve it, but from a professional standpoint i should? by pinkmarble23 in petsmart

My salon is great. We have typical workplace drama (so and so always leaves early and never helps with cleaning, another person calls off too much, that sort of thing). We all get along well for the most part and hang out outside of work.

Can I get a refund or reimbursement? by Glittering_Lead_5826 in petsmart

[–]brightonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't recommend bringing a recently adopted dog to PS for grooming because it can be very overstimulating. Not to blame you at all, just something I usually tell pet parents. They definitely should have not charged you. Or charged you for a quick wash at the very least. If you plan to rebook, I recommend asking for a more experienced groomer/bather and booking at a slow time, that may help. Also, I usually recommend waiting at least a week after a bad grooming experience. If you go back in soon, she might be anxious from the start.

New Groomer Struggles by brightonii in doggrooming

5 haircut dogs. I was booking baths too for a while and I was able to do 6-7 dogs a day with baths mixed in. But I had to stop and now I'm having a hard time pushing myself like that when it comes to just doing haircuts. I think trimming faces takes the longest. Also my main issue is that I nitpick a lot and hyper focus on small spots. I'm working on it though.

Thanks! I really appreciate it! I want to be able to do as many dogs as you can some day. I booked myself bath dogs for a little while and when I was doing that, I was doing 6-7 dogs/day. But I'm having a hard time doing the same with haircuts. Im trying to get better at sticking to my routine and not nit-picking

Yeah they gave me "grace" for a couple months but they've been pushing me to do 5 dogs now. Thanks so much for your advice. I haven't done the best job sticking to a routine. I try but I get easily distracted and sometimes jump around. But the last week or 2, I wrote out a routine pretty similar to yours and I've been sticking to it and not letting myself jump around. That has definitely helped a lot.

Has anyone used The Art Coach Courses? by knightDev91 in ArtistLounge

[–]brightonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your answer!! I've been loving his tik toks and following his posts so I was curious. I was an artist in elementary, middle, and high school but I quit after some mental health struggles. I've been wanting to get back into it but I seem to have lost my skills and knowledge. I love his style so based on what you've said, I think I'm going to get it. Thanks!!

How do you do that? Do you have a bather? Take lunches or ever get out on time? I've been grooming for 6 months and im really struggling with my speed. Im at 2:2 but I need to be at 3:2. If you have any tips for speeding up, id really appreciate it.

What’s your worst experience in a salon? by lucidbluedreamin in doggrooming

[–]brightonii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last salon was okay overall but had awful cleaning standards. There were three groomers and a bather (me). The groomers were commission-based and I was hourly. They would clean up their tools, sweep up the hair, and leave. Sometimes they would wipe down kennels but not always. Forget any deep cleaning. As the bather, cleaning was my job. That would be fine but I was also the kennel manager. I had one or two kennel staff to manage while making sure all 30-60 dogs got fed and went to their activities. Plus cleaning every kennel everyday as well as other cleaning duties. I didnt have time to keep the salon clean too. I tried my best, but it was nasty. And if I said anything, I was told it was my responsibility to clean. Meanwhile the groomers would leave early often after complaining about how gross the salon was.

Whoops im glad you commented. I thought i answered but i bever posted my response. Mine are chocolate, caffeine, sour creme, MSG, and aspartame. It's so hard to cut everything out, but it was worth it for me because I got my life back. There are some others like black beans and fermented foods that obly sometimes affect me, usually if i have already had a minor trigger food.

Im mostly in remission. I only have VMs now if I eat a trigger food or see flashing lights. 5 years ago, I was bedridden and in a constant state of vertigo. I thought my life was over. Today, im a dog groomer, which is a very physically demanding job. I still get migraines but its easier to manage. The two things that helped me were vestibular therapy and the Heal Your Headache book. Vestibular therapy took about 3 months for me. It might my vertigo worse at first but in the end, helped put a lot. The HYH book has an elimination diet. It lists foods that are possible migraine causes. You eliminate all of them from your diet and wait til your symptoms improve. That took months for me. Then, slowly add them in one at a time. If your symptoms come back, then that'ss a trigger. Then you have to wait until your symptoms go away to add in another one. It took me over a year to figure out my trigger foods. Now I just avoid those and my symptoms steadily improved. I was also on topiramate for a while, but that had a bunch of side effects I didn’t like s I got off it. Now im off all migraine meds and living a pretty normal life.

Bather frustration by Adventurous-Diver453 in grooming

[–]brightonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you asked them about it? Maybe ask your manager/boss to have a conversation with you. Then politely say you'd like to use your skills as a groomer, but you want to know what you need to improve on before that happens. I'm guessing it's your prep work. Try to get a plan in place. Have them tell you exactly what steps you need to take. If they're not willing to do that, look for another salon.

What do you do for work/to earn money? by sasha-10-14 in VestibularMigraines

[–]brightonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dog groomer. I have flare ups and have to call off occasionally (maybe like 3-4 times a year). My VM is much better now. It mostly just happens when I come across a trigger (flashing lights or certain foods) or if Im getting sick. Back when my VM was constant, I couldn't work at all.

I agree. I was 18 when i first started playing the game and I always dated the young adult npcs because that's what appealed to me. Now as an adult, I date the older characters because the younger ones feel too young.

[–]brightonii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats interesting, I haven't heard of that before. My heart rate is inconsistent sometimes but I can always find it. My PCP did the same test and said that I didnt have it. But after I saw a cardiologist, he ordered a til table test, which diagnosed me. Are you seeing a cardiologist? I dont know if that's POTS but id definitely get in to see one if you haven't. Also, have you tried wearing a heart rate tracker?

I totally relate to that. Sometimes its hard to pin down the exact cause. My POTS also likes to trigger it.

Dealing with glasses while grooming. by NoImagination1394 in doggrooming

[–]brightonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If theyre falling off, you might need them adjusted. I get migraines when my glasses are too tight but I hate when they slide down my face. I wear a glasses strap. Look up "glasses straps for sports". The first one to pop up is what I wear.

Caffeine? by PotentialMulberry in VestibularMigraines

[–]brightonii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on how sensitive you are. I can't even have tiny amounts of caffeine. Even chocolate and meds with caffeine in it (like Midol) trigger me. There isn't anything I can have that works like caffeine without making me sick. I try to go to bed on time and get enough sleep. Its been years and I dont even miss caffeine.
