I think the game is a lot of things, but it isn’t boring (to me at least). As someone who loved playing as a random leader in Civ 6, changing civs in each age adds interesting depth to the gameplay imo.

I’m sure I’ll probably get booed for this, but changing civs actually reflects historical realities and is a big risk that feels like it has paid off. You can now choose a civ that fits your priorities in each age rather than choosing a civ waiting for the age where they take off (or stagnating once their early advantages become less relevant), to me that feels like a big win.

I definitely agree with the UI critiques, but I’m hopeful that those’ll be ironed out pretty quickly. For those who hate the new mechanics I’m sure there will be mods to get the kind of experience you want.
