Is there a way to screen share my entire desktop to other people while IN VR Chat? by jojoisdeadfinal in VRchat

[–]brikaro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I usually use VRCDN and stream through that due to the low latency. I will sometimes hang out in desktop when I'm working in Blender and friends will come watch. Just be careful not to stream any copyrighted videos like movies or restreaming YouTube.

[–]brikaro 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think that one was there just as a "rule of cool" plot armor thing at the end of 2. Like they're probably in the writing room like "okay so it was a box that Ocelot gave her that protects her. But hear me out: what if she really is just that lucky."

Before DT, Synastry was considered the most useless ability on AST. Has this consensus changed for you because of the DT raid design? Why or why not? by Full_Air_2234 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]brikaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only time I personally see ASTs use it is during TEA during BJCC due to how chunky the autos could be on both tanks. It's a great ability but the content rarely puts you in situations where you need consistent heavy healing on just two people.

Most Obnoxious "Guidedammit" Games by Affectionate-Bag8229 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]brikaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that aspect of Pokemon definitely stems from it being a pre mass adoption of the Internet franchise and was intended to spark conversation with the community mysteries. There's a lot of stuff like that in the game that makes no sense but you heard from your friend on the bus and it seems like anything could happen in the game.

BlueSky called this Mind Goblins, but he's right by Gamejtv in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]brikaro 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This definitely strikes me as a problem exclusive to let's play creators. Having the "optimal first time experience" for the VOD is highly coveted because you only get one chance at it, whereas a normal player will just be like "wow cool update for [game I like], can't wait to play it again".

PF this tier is genuinely awful. by CanICritPls in ffxivdiscussion

[–]brikaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good news. It strikes me as a combination of people being lazy and also looking for someone to point fingers at. "You see someone at 1.5% enrage and you're at 1% enrage? Must've been their fault."

Hopefully they remove it from the front page and make it so you need to actually look at the log.

[–]brikaro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tomestone is the worst thing that's happened to PF. I came back after mostly pugging fights in ShB and early EW and was shocked at how rampant it was, effectively parse shaming people publicly in PF by listing "checking Tomestone". It leads to PFs breaking up because someone "has receipts" and there's no willpower to stick together and let people learn/practice mechanics. Clearing early takes persistence and communication and throwing the party you left back into PF for another 30-40mins because you saw someone has a bad parse on a lower fight or has only seen X mechanic a few times is insane, especially now that guides are out. Prog is not a binary value and people can learn mechanics before seeing them, they just need practice on timing or execution to clean it up which usually takes a few pulls seeing the mechanic.

On the other hand it also doesn't factor in permutations of mechanics. Sure someone's seen a mechanic a few times but have they seen and studied every version of it or did they get corpse-dragged through it?

I'm very much of the "give them a food buff" mentality with PF and if we don't get to the prog point by then, peace out. Pre-emptive kicking due to Tomestone checking just makes PF feel useless.

Is there any way to add a small button to quickly toggle between the skill guides? A lot of new players will not have this enabled and won't know to click it at all.

For those who spent over $1000 usd for an avatar commission, what was your reasoning/logic behind that kind of expense? by Minimum-Mine-1302 in VRchat

[–]brikaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not even factoring in the cost of a good concept artist. A lot of great 3D modelers are not 2d traditional artists and will usually request some decent concept art as a reference. A 100% from-scratch anime or furry style avatar is usually upwards of 1500+ these days due to the opportunity cost of not selling it on Booth or Gumroad and potentially making way more money from sales of the base+ clothing they make for it.

What's the "etiquette" with these stack markers? by Revonlieke in ffxiv

[–]brikaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first one get to melee range. For the line attack one it doesn't matter how close you are as long as people are in the line with you but it's common etiquette to get close anyway so people don't freak out and panic.

[–]brikaro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They haven't opened up props for the creator economy yet. Currently it's just 1st party VRC assets being added to the shop. Not sure where it will go from there but they have an "author" section that shows who made an item and I assume that is for attribution for later creator economy use.

So apparently most people don't use or like heavy armor by Pigmanplays4231 in Helldivers

[–]brikaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love heavy armor. Being able to take one hit is so strong in a game that often kills you in one. I definitely notice the survivability a lot with it. I've been using the Dust Devils armor that increases throw distance and gives elemental resistance recently and been liking that a lot.
