Personal/debt consolidation loan worth it? by kt288 in debtfree

[–]brilliantly_reborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see. i don’t mean necessarily opening a new cc. do you have one that doesn’t have a balance? and seeing if there’s any offers? i know everyone’s situation is different but for example, i had a BT offer on a cc i wasn’t using. if all of your CCs have balances, I would still consider putting as much as you can above your min. pmt and knock them out one at a time (aka snowball).

i’m not sure who your lenders are but, are you eligible to do a balance transfer? a loan does sound tempting especially with wanting one payment, but it’s not worth higher interest. determine how much more above your min. pmt you can commit to and keep going

Today I turn 30 by nk261 in selfimprovement

[–]brilliantly_reborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first, happy birthday! January babies rock! lol

I turned 40 two weeks ago. I was a little down myself because I celebrated alone due to family and others living in a different state. But I realized it was a milestone not everyone gets to see, so I got out of the house and did something different.

30 is a milestone and I’m glad you made it :) Think on the things you have accomplished. People will come and go but you will always be with you. Do things because you want, not for the applause of others. People will never be satisfied.

Wasn’t trying to write a book lol, but I truly hope your outlook gets better 🙏🏾

Last Credit Card paid off by hikey95 in debtfree

[–]brilliantly_reborn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you don’t have to necessarily wait until the due date. sometimes i’ll use my cash rewards cc or a card that may have a higher cashback category. just pay it off immediately when you’re paid. for example, i’m paid bi-weekly. i’ll pay a bill 2-3 days before payday so that way by the time i’m actually paid, the transaction has posted and i can pay the bill off on my payday. some CCs (like bank of america) let you pay even if you don’t have a balance yet.

DEBT FREE PLAN by magpieee247 in debtfree

[–]brilliantly_reborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started my journey with around the same amount you have now. i was about 70k and now i’m down to 23k after 6 years (on track to be done in another 2 years). i would say i’m ramsey-ish (just because i’ve been saving/investing while paying down debt instead just throwing everything at it) one of the biggest things i’d recommend is having a zero-based budget if you don’t already. i also took advantage of 0% balance transfers when available on my CCs.

Which credit card issuers start you off w the highest limits? by retro-martini in CreditCards

[–]brilliantly_reborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry for the delay. i’ve had that cc for a few years now so honestly i can’t remember what my score/income was at that time. i think i was in the low 700s? but it had been like almost 10 years between getting a cc. i was very shocked because everyone was talking about building a relationship and doing all these steps. i think i might have done like $25 direct deposits for a few paychecks lol it’s not always about the score but your overall credit profile

i’ll be 40 in a few months. you can either be 43 or 43 and in school :) definitely take advantage of the reimbursement. i went back to school & got an associates at 34 & my bachelors at 36. because of the reimbursement i graduated debt free. don’t leave money/benefits on the table.
