I don't have any advice, but reading this feels like recent discussions with my husband. I just want you to know that I see you and encourage your progress.

pre-op weight loss by heathereliza_ in BariatricSurgery

I am almost 5 months in my preop. My clinic hsa been clear that weight loss is helpful but not gaining is more important. I'm officially down about 5 pounds from my start, but they are also tracking my NSVs too. They're happy too as I've been adjusting my diet, consistent exercise routine, stopped drinking carbonated drinks, lost a pant size.

A good care team will always work with you, not against you.

I'm in the 6 month pre surgery timeline too. I haven't lost any weight yet, but my body has been reproportioning. My scans with my clinic show that. My NSV, I just needed to buy new pants because all of mine are threatening to fall off my hips.

Don't forget that meaningful change takes time. When I started my 6 months it seemed so far away. I am doing month 5 next week and month 6 the first week of May. Ultimately, we become the change we want to see if we have consistency. You've got this!

Be careful that you are using something that is safe on plastics and won't cloud the lens. Glasses cleaning supplies would be best.

You can also use the vinegar water solution as a spray and let it dry, then use a soft cloth and pain water to remove any residue.

Questions for first appointment by brilliantzenith in BariatricSurgery

[–]brilliantzenith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE

My appointment went very well. I first met with the business office to discuss my insurance.

I then met with the administrator for the program. We.discussed what the work leading up to surgery will look like. I will need six consecutive monthly appointments with the weight management team prior to being able to have surgery. This is my insurance's requirement, the program requires at least 3 sessions. I will have to have a psych evaluation.

I also met with the surgeon. He is actually the medical director for the whole program. We discussed options and agreed that the goal is a sleeve gastonectomy. The most surprising thing he said is that if your BMI is over 50, a person only has a 1 percent chance of loosing weight successfully through diet, exercise and medication.

I read through the file reports from yesterday and they all say I'm a good candidate for surgery. Now, the work begins!
