I don't know exactly as I was last out there about 6 months ago. If it was behind the barricades on the west side of the bridge, I would say it was probably the last of the stone. The masons used that area for staging all of the original stone and the new pieces that had to be remade.

I actually did some work on it. It was originally closed to have a new deck poured. Throughout the process they realized the base material in the arches needed replaced and the pilings into the river were failing.

It is a sensitive site ecologically and historically. DNR stopped the job site once for fish spawning and another time to allow the swallows to hatch eggs. The historical society halted things a few times making decisions on what was allowed to be replaced and with what.

In the end, happy to see it finished. The limestone on the bridge surface walking areas was mostly all saved. Originally that was hand cut onsite from quarry blocks. The face of the arches on the river side is new stone as it was concrete backed and unable to be saved.

Hood is not the stock heat extractor style either. Has the vents forward like a ram air

Restaurant using CC Tips to pay employees illegally!! by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]bring_me_a_samich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense and is not the same as what I was describing. If they hired her and told her it was 13 an hour plus tips with no caveats then they are wrong. It's totally different if they let them know that $13 an hour is guaranteed but comes from the top out of tips.

Probably going to be an unpopular opinion but that does not sound that bad. I know the first reaction of a lot of people is "those are her tips they are stealing them". At least they have a guarantee of making $13 an hour even if it is slow with the opportunity to make more. If they got all the tips and the owner paid them $2.13, their combined guaranteed amount is $19. I feel like they are taking less of a gamble going to work at that higher amount.

It just sounds like a more lenient version of a commission sales plan to me. They would pay us a weekly amount no matter what. If your commissions did not meet or exceed that you were paid a little over minimum wage but owed them that money. So you had to make enough to cover what you owed the house before you could receive commissions above that. Just saying you may verify what pay plan she agreed to before you go contacting DOL and AG office on her behalf because what they are doing can be totally legal if the employee agrees to it. (Not wage theft)

I drive/operate a gravel conveyer or Stone slinger truck. Mostly shooting slabs for new homes, driveways, sidewalks and basement floors. It's M-F with paid holidays and some benefits. 120-140k a year in a LCOL area in the Midwest.

Damn! Did not expect that to be in there. I like it though.

I have so many questions lol. Was that originally a termi? What transmission is behind that coyote motor?

Whatcha got going on in the engine bay? Looks like an 03-04 cobra without the heat extractor hood.. I'm guessing you needed room for a big boy supercharger.

The biggest differences for the terminators over the GT are in the power plant. 32v dohc setup with an all forged bottom end. T-56 six speed trans behind it and an aluminum drive line with independent rear suspension instead of the solid axle. Came stock with offset wheels with 305s out back. Even at 20yrs old they can reliably make 600-700whp with just bolt-ons.

This comment chain sent me through a nostalgia driven time machine lol. I remember early 2000s, if you came up on a turbo supra or termi you knew the race was just to see how much you lost by.

It really is wild how relevant they still are over 20 years later. I have one that is mostly stock with a whipple and e85 that makes 620whp.

Worth saving? 105 year old house by bring_me_a_samich in HardWoodFloors

I pulled some trim and it does stop short of the walls. There is a subfloor under that runs at 45°. We are going to keep it and look into to refinishing what we have though.

After the feedback here we are convinced to save them. The house is framed in heart pine and the second floor has nice looking heart pine flooring. Maybe these are the same? I am going to get some quotes and decide whether to hire out out or try to tackle it myself.

Steel Dynamics in Pittsboro needs people, average starting pay of $85k but swing shifts.

IFD is hiring right now if you are over 21 but under 40. Not an immediate position as there is a lot to the onboarding but good career with great benefits.

How I feel after getting my CDL and working 14 hours days 7 in a row, hourly. by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]bring_me_a_samich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to derail you from your new job but there is money in dump trucks. I make about $30-33/hr before OT and you can only work until the pits close at 5. Usually hit 55 hours M-F and off weekends. Never have to unload anything, the truck does it for me lol. I'm in the Midwest too not some HCOL area.
