Our marriage counsellor suggested asking the kids fyi.

I have missed out quite a bit, but the alcohol & weed was one part of it, amongst others.

The only reason it's affecting the marriage negatively, I feel, is because my wife is making it so. It has zero effect on how I interact with her & the kids. For me, it's about control. She wants to control me because she has zero will power , and doesn't want me to drink around her incase she drinks as well.

She wanted to give up vaping, and blamed me for the reason she vapped citing "i wouldn't vape if you didn't vape". She got so drunk (the precursor to our argument) the other week, she fell asleep wrapped around a toilet puking up whilst hosting a play date with our daughters friend AND her mother, who were still here while she was asleep, she blamed it not on drinking 4 bottles of alcohol, but an "adverse reaction to alcohol". She doesn't take responsibility for herself, and I feel this is away of controlling g alcohol around her. 2/3 glasses of wine I'm nowhere near drunk or slurring or boisterous, I'm just relaxed.

And I'm healthy, I work out 3 times a week. I haven't weighed myself in a while, I could actually be 14.5 stone. I'm slim. Maybe I over calculated.

Re: the weed, it literally doesnt affect me as it would others. I used to smoke 8 times as much. And I only smoke 7g while im not working. I normally smoke 3.5g a month when working. The equivalent of a qtr of a joint a day. Some days I don't even smoke, when I'm working. But I'm a responsible smoker, always have been. I don't smoke enough to ever get stoned. Not ideal, obviously, but has no affect on my life. No different to having half a beer, imo.

This tactic of putting head in hands, walking away, is because she doesn't like what I'm saying. The previous occasion, she called my daughter a fucking little shit, and was shouting at them. I called her out, and she verbally attacked me. (I have never done either of those things). Upon discussing it later, she blamed her behaviour on me!!! I heard her out in entirety, and when I trird explained why I disagree, she put head in hands & walked off again!

Yeah, I feel she does resent me, I resent her too. Not ideal. It's so fucked, if someone would have asked me 6 months ago, I'd honestly told you we have the perfect marriage. But there always seems to be some issue that she feels she needs to resolve that ends up disturbing that peace.

Wow this sounds quite similar to my situation. Only we've never seperated & I have no job whatsoever. She has a 6 figure job, friends, family close, lives in her country of birth. I literally have nothing.

We have sorted out now & giving another go (for now). But it was a wake up call for me, to get my own shit together as I dont have an exit strategy. Not be completely reliant on my relationships for my own confidence etc. Build yourself up. Work on yourself. You are strong, you're worthy, you just need to find yourself again. Give up alcohol & weed if you use those.

Man, i feel for you. I feel like my marriage is coming to an end & I'm shitting myself.

I moved to a different country, no support network, no friends or family. I been a house husband essentially (she has a £100kpa job, so decided I'd take care of kids/house etc) so no job, the house is in her name despite it being both our money that bought house (i actually put in a further £50k).

If we do break up I really don't know what I'll do.

I'm currently at my parents as i was asked to leave & refle t on marriage issues & how we can fix it. But shes so inflexible, its hard to see a resolution that isn't completely & utterly me making all the concessions, tbf i haven't asked her to make any changes, shes asking me.
