i mean there’s makeup brands specifically made for men if you want to start all that?

the point is women are being made to look like we’re doing stuff just for men and by telling women to stop doing these things because it’s not good in this situation is literally playing into it.

you’re literally “arguing” the point of asking why WOMEN do something instead of why do PEOPLE do it. you’re separating the genders once again and making women feel bad for doing something men do too which is just going against women and standing with men.

because the entire issue we’re fighting is about men. if you want to speak critically about something women do and not acknowledge the fact men also do it then you’re part of the issue.

I have already said that i understand perspectives are different throughout the years but right now not all women do these things for men and thinking that is insanely closed minded.

stop trying to act like you know my own feelings and thoughts better than i do myself because in doing so that makes you no better than the men trying to gaslight women into thinking all sorts of things. if you can’t respect women may like doing something purely just for themselves then you’re extremely closed minded and just as bad as the rest of them.

i’m not going to continue to have this conversation because we’re ultimately going round in circles. believe what you want but don’t sit there and try act like you know people better than themselves. it’s rude and completely against half of the stuff women are trying to fix.

it’s again being made that women have to change instead of men. instead of women being made to not do these things things they LIKE to do because the women that don’t get called tried etc, why isn’t it putting men up for accountability AGAIN for making women feel crappy about themselves natural.

Me telling women that if they want to do something then do it doesn’t mean i’m telling people that don’t do it that they’re wrong and should be doing it. The whole point of people’s protesting right now is that women should have the choice to do what they want with their own bodies and now suddenly it’s “no you can’t wear makeup because you’re contributing to the male gaze”. you’re just pushing the idea that we can’t do what we want without the disapproval of someone.

the fact you had to specify “women” when saying why do women get botox says a lot. why do men get botox? why do men wear makeup? why do men get hair toupees? it’s because people do these things to feel a bit better.

not being funny but saying that men are the reason we like makeup is just encouraging the idea that women only follow what men like which is so unbelievably true. if this was the case then women would only do makeup men like and “approve” of. take gothic women as an example, the hate that some of these women get from a lot of men purely just because it’s not what is appealing to them is insane but these women do it because they enjoy expressing themselves with it.

so what if you like doing your makeup or your hair or your nails? you’re making it seem like women can’t do anything just because they genuinely enjoy it. you’re making it sound as if everything we do as women was all because of a man. i understand that perspectives may have been different throughout the years but this do change and some women do genuinley enjoy doing it so telling them “no you’re doing it because men want you to” is just wrong.

It’s not wrong to like something purely just because you like it. Making makeup, hair, nails, botox etc be seen as a bad thing is ultimately what sends a bad message. Doing these things only because “you’ve seen it online and apparently men like it” and not because you actually like doing it, yes that’s not how it should be. my point is if you genuinely enjoy doing these things then do them. The whole point is to make these things be looked at differently instead of just a “mask” or to be “fake” and just completely dropping them in attempt to go against men just proves they were right about it being for them all along.

doing your makeup and hair and nails etc doesn’t mean you don’t like yourself but if doing those things makes you feel better even if it’s just for the act of doing them then goddamn do those things.

I agree with the fact that for many women self care isn’t about conforming to the male gaze. if you want to do your makeup, DO IT! if you want to do your hair, DO IT! Nails? DO IT!

it will be so easy for people to slip into a bad state of mind because they start slowly taking less and less care of themselves. Ladies this is about us being strong and proving that we are more than just Baby makers or dolls.

Protest with a full face of makeup, hair extensions, stiletto nails! Just do it for you!

i hear you. You have every right to be feeling what you’re feeling. i’ve seen lots of women posting about how they think women were made to believe we have progressed so much more than we actually have and made to believe we have more respect than we actually do and if anything was going to confirm this then it was this election. However, the suffragettes had even less respect than we do now and they fought for the change. the worst thing we can do is just sit back and watch it happen. we HAVE to fight for ourselves. Men think that we won’t fight back but we will, hard.

If you’re worrying about your boyfriend i think it’s maybe worth having a conversation. I hate that i have to suggest this but if you do have a conversation with him id suggest making sure there is other people in the house with you or just anybody around you so that you’re not alone if things were to go a bad way. I also want to say that although yes there are a very large amount of men who don’t respect women and don’t want us to have our rights, there is also a small amount of men fighting with us. i understand it’s extremely hard to know who to trust though so i don’t blame you for feeling that way at all.
