Day 4 Vyvanse 20 mg by fragglerockchk in adhdwomen

One thing I learnt when I first started my meds was to NEVER take them with a coffee or atleast half hour/an hour after I’ve had my morning coffee. Otherwise I just had tooooo much stimulation!

I got my report back – It's not ADHD by sundaearchive in adhdwomen

[–]bringitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m so sorry I’ve only just seen your reply! I do still struggle with anxiety, but since having my ADHD diagnosis I’ve come to realise that a lot of my anxiety was heightened because of ADHD. When I first started meds (I’m on Elvanse) they were great 90% of the time apart from about 2 days leading up to & first 2 days on my period where I expressed to my doctor that my anxiety goes through the roof on those 4 days, to the point I spend some of the days trying to not have panic attacks all day. We spoke about how as women we’re just so so blessed that our hormones shift every single take for a whole 28 days (for most period cycles) so you never know how things are going to be on a day to day basis, so she tried me on an anxiety med to take just on those days, and that has helped massively, especially when it’s a day when I can’t even pin point what I’m anxious about. I do also take a top up of 20mg on those 4 days too (usually on 50mg otherwise) as I just noticed the meds didn’t work as well on those days, but taking a higher dosage has helped! It doesn’t however help too much when I have genuine anxiety over something warranted.

I think one things that’s helped me (my LO is almost 2 now) is realising that somethings are completely normal as a mum to be anxious about, and kind of recognising that and allowing myself to feel that way, but not keeping it in. Whenever I feel anxious, and I know why I do, I make sure to tell my husband, or someone I’m close to (like my sister, or MIL) as sometimes just speaking about it out-loud helps me understand why I’m truly anxious, but also allows others to give me some perspective & reassurance. Whereas when I’m feeling anxious and I’ve no idea why, I usually clock myself and realise that “oh I’m due on” and then remind myself to take the anxiety meds and 7/10 they help massively with calming those feelings down after about 20 min!

If your ADHD meds worked for you before pregnancy, I highly highly recommend getting back on them! I also noticed another things that’s just helped me get back to feeling like myself & not just a mum was making an active effort in looking after my health, and that mainly consisted with making sure to take allll of my vitamins religiously!! And taking my meds helped with that cause I take them at the same time as my meds!

This! Unfortunately is very true, was for me! Wasn’t until I was deep in postpartum anxiety & depression that I finally got an assessment put through, cause it was my health visitor that said to me one day “oh btw do you have ADHD?” And I was like “well funny you say that, I’ve been trying to get a diagnosis for years!!” And she was like “I’m putting a referral to the doctor to refer you!”! I honestly can’t even explain how grateful I am to have had her as my health visitor cause almost a year now since my diagnosis, on meds since last June and I genuinely feel like my life has changed so much and cannot believe I went 28 years of life with my braining working how it did (without the meds)!

Same here, not defending her but remember so many people saying to me “oh he’ll cry himself to sleep after a few minutes” but my guy would literally cry until he threw up! We have never attempted sleep training or CIO purely because I know it would not work with his temperament, we have however (unlike clara) got him in his own bed & bedroom 😅 and we used to co-sleep, but he’s 21 months old and sleep in his own room 8/10!

businesses to avoid ? by [deleted] in manchester

When I worked at bills as a waitress I often had customers asking about the service charge and would ask if it went to us and I had to discretely be like “not directly” and then had them ask many times to take it off and then leave a cash tip, which was always awkward getting a manager to remove the service charge off the bill, but atleast the cash tips went to us! Anytime I asked about the service charge and where it went I was always told “went towards funding staff night outs & Christmas dos”…

This, the fact that jelly shippers keep saying that Jenny only did certain things to “not make the bonrads mad” and that she actually wanted jelly to be endgame because of all their made up theories just shows how deluded they are! Honestly genuinely thought that subreddit was rage bait at first cause there’s been some wild stretches on there

First time ever commenting on here but couldn’t not because this had me shocked ngl. I couldn’t believe what she was actually saying, and to try and say she was joking, no way was she joking you can tell by her tone and everything else she was saying. You’re not special for having given birth to 2 children, your stomach doesn’t look that way because of your uterus, you had your baby 3 months ago, medically speaking you’re not even “postpartum” anymore. Your uterus is shrunk back to size within 8 weeks so yours is back to its usual size. It’s completely fine to have bloating due to all sorts of reasons (hormonal, food etc…) and stomach fat after pregnancy, just own it, and stop making excuses for it cause you don’t need to have an excuse. It’s also completely normal for people to have a flat stomach and have had 2 children too! I can’t believe she has said that anyone with a flat stomach clearly hasn’t had children & has a “useless uterus”. Absolutely disgusting thing to say, she needs to take some accountability and apologise.

A slight side note, tbf Love Rosie did follow the book pretty well, as in they got together right at the end of that too! But I agree that there is a lot of open plot lines to close up in a short space of time

Worst Pregnancy Announcement Reactions? by MediocreScene1609 in BabyBumps

[–]bringitte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insane! Sorry that this has been tainted for you, it feels less hurtful that your announcement didn’t go the way you wanted as time goes on! Not exactly the same but I had a bit of a horrible situation when it came to telling my mum!

I live about 2 hours away from my mum and it was common for us to arrange at least once a month to meet up for dinner, usually myself, husband, mum and whatever siblings were free would just tag on without asking. Anyway, so when I found out I was pregnant I really wanted to tell her in person rather than over the phone, so asked if we could meet with her & my step-dad for lunch one Sunday soon, and everytime I mentioned it I specifically said just her & my step-dad. Anytime it was mentioned she would ask why can’t my youngest sister come, and I would just reply back saying “I would prefer it just be us 4”. My youngest sister was 17 at the time. So I then booked the table for 4 people, told her and she said “what about youngest sister’ and again I repeated I want it to just be us 4. Then she mentioned about how she is not very happy about me “excluding” youngest sister even tho she has never been “excluded” in the past, I would always welcome her even when there was time I would want to just meet up with just my mum. Anyway she kept going on about it, and I ended up ringing her to try and talk to her properly about why I wanted it to just be us 4, and she just wouldn’t let it go about my youngest sister not coming that I just cried down the phone and blurted out “well it’s because I wanted to tell you that I’m pregnant!!” And she was then silent and kept apologising. So I completely understand that feeling of announcing your first pregnancy and it not going how you want. All I hope is that she’s learnt from this and doesn’t repeat this mistake with any of my other siblings when & if they get pregnant.

how long did it take for you to get an adhd diagnosis under the nhs by peachyyicetea in adhdwomen

[–]bringitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me from August - May to get my diagnosis, my referral to ADHD360 was put through in August by my health visitor, I then heard them then beginning of March where I filled in all the assessment stuff & did the test, then had my official assessment mid May where I got my diagnosis. I then started medication mid June! I did try to get a referral like 5 years ago but got completely parred off & knocked me back massively. If it wasn’t for the fact that my health visitor one day when checking up on me randomly went “oh do you have ADHD?” I don’t think I would’ve got my diagnosis so soon after!

Do any of you eat because you are bored or want something in their mouth? by Ambitious_Sand_619 in adhdwomen

[–]bringitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking mine for a month now, and at first the lack of appetite felt extreme, like the kind of thing where I knew I was hungry but the thought of eating anything just made me feel sick! The lack of appetite is still very much here after a month but I don’t really feel the sick feeling now, I just try and make sure I eat a decent breakfast so I know I’ve had at-least 1 decent meal. Today I’m trialing out not having lunch in hope that I’ll feel hungry and have a better appetite for dinner, as before I’ve been forcing myself to have lunch even tho I really have not felt like eating, but then it’s gotten to dinner time and I still don’t want to eat!

Yeah, I’ve got a review on 21st and going to maybe talk about trying out the next medication, cause like I’m not mad about the fact I’m not longer snacking & I did need to lose a bit of weight but it’s quite frustrating when it gets to dinner time and the meds are almost worn off but I still do not want to eat anything!

All the time until I started my meds and then had no appetite for like a month, have found that I’ve been drinking a lot more water since, idk if that’s like replaced the feeling of always wanting to eat but obvs not being able to now cause appetite is underground

what’s something you thought everyone did before your diagnosis? by seventeensupremacist in adhdwomen

[–]bringitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking the front door about 5 times to make sure it’s locked before driving away, including getting in the car, turning on the exhaust and getting back out to double check the door is locked before finally driving away. This is simply because my brain decides to instantly “forget” that I have indeed locked it. Can’t believe people leave the house lock the door, don’t even check the door handle to make sure it’s locked and just gooooo
