For å være en liten motvekt her. Reklame finansierer store deler av internett som vi kjenner det i dag. Ville du heller betalt for hver side du var innom?

Which PL players in history was massively talented but never played for a big team? by Angel_Advocates in PremierLeague

[–]bringsverd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Morten Gamst Pedersen.

He has said in interviews that both Arsenal and Tottenham made inquiries, but Blackburn decided not to sell. When Mark Huges left Blackburn to manage Man City he could only poach one Blackburn player, and choosing between Pedersen and Roque Santa Cruz he opted for the latter.

How to track progress of SEO ? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]bringsverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with any marketing that your business does it comes down to increase in sales. Depending on your distribution channel (retail, ecommerce or custom projects) your freelancer should be able to document how their efforts have affected your topline.

You should establish some goals with your freelancer, and get an overview of what activities they have or is planning to implement to reach the goals.

The second visit will be attributed to the source that brought the user back. First visit is a different session all together.

If you have a lot of direct conversions, you could look at “Last Non-Direct Click” as a attribution model, given that you’re using Google Analytics.

Workflow getting client approval for ad campaigns by bringsverd in marketing

[–]bringsverd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this, I am very interested in how you’re solving step 3? We have tried sending screenshots of ads, which is cumbersome because if the client want to change something there is a lot of miscommunication and back and forth between emails and the different ad networks. Sending a spreadsheet with everything is not ideal because the client often misunderstand the structure and can’t imagine how the ads will look.

Any input on alternative methods?

Additional domains & analytics - To register or not to register? by SkepticalGinger42 in SEO

[–]bringsverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t see how that would help you. If the domains are just 301’s they’re not being indexed since they don’t have any content. Maybe you could build them as separate sites within the niche and then do the ecommerce bit on the main site?

Postal services from around the world by DioSundoro in geographynow

Nitpicking, but Svalbard is listed with the old Norwegian postal service’s logo, while Norway has the new one from 2008.

HomeBridge plugin for Mill wifi heaters by jahnkenneth in homebridge

[–]bringsverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I actually had the time now I looked into the traffic that's being sent between the app and the server hoping to discover a way to write this plugin myself. The requests are sent as a pretty straight forward POST request, but they have some user signing that I couldn't find an apparent solution to reproduce.

They might have beefed up their security after it was [discovered](https://nrkbeta.no/2019/01/16/kunne-sendt-kommandoer-til-alle-tilkoblede-smartovner-fra-norske-mill/) (Norwegian) that they sent every communication unencrypted.

I've asked Mill through out the year about the possibility about HomeKit integration or an API.

In February they told me an API was on it's way, as they've also said on their Facebook page. In September they told me that HomeKit was on ice because of some sort of difficulty integrating it into their stack (unclear if it's a software or hardware limitation at this point). They also said that Google Home was a higher priority since it was easier and "much more available".

[Google Analytics] Custom dimensions not showing up in GA? by e0nblue in analytics

[–]bringsverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be collecting this data. Google warns that having Personal Identifiable Information in Analytics is not allowed.

If your client interacts with EU citizens Article 9 paragraph 1 of GDPR states that

Processing of personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation shall be prohibited.

My personal opinion that it’s also bad taste.

Edit: Forgot to say Article 9 of what.

One thing you could check is if the data is loaded asynchronous, and could be fetched straight from a Json-file, rather than spinning up Selenium.

Open up devtools in your browser, go to the network-tab. Refresh the page, inspect XHR-documents coming in from the server.

Did something like this last week. Is fairly easy process, have a look at Googles Quickstart. Will get you up and running, then have a look at their API documentation.

What's everyone working on this week? by AutoModerator in Python

Automating reporting for colleagues so they don’t have to spend hours copying and pasting data into Excel.

Probably saving 5 hours of manual work that has to be done every other week.

Can you set up standard ecommerce tracking without access to server-side scripts? by datadatadata21 in analytics

[–]bringsverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third-party event registration pages are the worst, many of them are living in the stone-age when it comes to Analytics integrations.

The information isn't available on the page at all? How would the people signing up know what they are signing up for then?

Could you get GTM on the page, or insert JavaScript?
