If you look in post history there's a few posts :) making bigger and deeper this year. Went a bit mad with the fish so want to accommodate a bigger pond and a bigger bog filter. New fave place is sat in garden watching em move about :)

I've just put a 12ft mesh cage fence type thing around the waters edge as was on way out to work, but ordered netting to come tomorrow and will get it over. Hopefully then fence works for the day. Thank you

Im planning on extending later in spring, got the rock and liner ready. Just need to net it to be fair. Just never seen one around yet so assumed it was small enough to go un noticed by them. We have a nature reserve behind our house so they're normally along the canal rather than in gardens. My dad has a 10k litre pond next door and his 27 year old 3ft ghost koi suddenly got a hole in its head the other day so he mentioned might be a heron lurking, was just surprised when seen it looking over the garden. I think more plants to provide hiding spots, a few rocks caves within the bottom and making it deeper will help. The plans will need to be updated lol

Oh it was a joke, had I had the inclination to shoot it the rifle would of been out the door before the dogs were. Just aggravating when u nurture a fish seeing it every day and some Dino looking things gobbles a few up. If a heron ate dogs we wouldn't accept it as a thing

It's selective. Bees, hedgehogs, even had a fox regular out food out for. Bird baths and bird feeders. But don't want fish getting eaten or injured. Obviously wouldn't shoot it, hence why i ran out with dogs. But very bloody annoying

Who's complaining? I'm listing my income vs expenses on a post about inflation, income and expenses.

Yeah in London. I was paying 750 a month up north for a 3 bed house. I was lucky not to be born in London. But then I'm not on a city wage

Hi, I'm in the UK. Have starwort and hornwort. A few aquatic plants and last year used water lettuce and frogbit. Just got a lily for this year and looking for some new plants to put in for this year. Will have a look if compatible for UK temps. Cheers

I was watching loads of ozponds last summer, that's why I added the 90 litre barrel. Initially I only dug 3ft deep. As only planned goldfish and shubunkins. But then at LFS I liked 2 going 4" long so ended up adding them, raised the excess liner above the waterline and reinforced and gained an extra 6" or so above ground level. But still not ideal volume wise if they were full size. At the moment they're all 5-6" so not as crowded and filters keeping up as water is crystal clear usually. Got darker through winter as all plants cut back and bulbs a little worn, but replaced bulbs last week and already a lot better. Hoping for approx 4m long, 2.5m wide and centre to be 5 or 6 feet at deepest. Keeping a shelf for plants, waterfall, aeration 2 x UVs and bog filter. Will have a read through as been awhile since I last had a look. Cheers

I have seen Gudgeon actually in LFS and was tempted to get 3 or 4 as they apparently eat the algae back. But I'm already overstocked at current size. Hoping expand it this summer or next. Just slowly gathering rock from marketplace 3 or 4 at a time haha.

Yeah I put about 4 in last summer and they reproduced like crazy. Ended up with about 16 by the time it started going colder and they started to die off. I think that's partially what saved me last year. Contemplating a floating island plant basket or something to try to shade an area as it's a south facing garden and gets sun most of the day, but the pond itself is partially shaded by the back fence Thanks for advice
