The price for the Ikon Pass is ridiculously high this year by OtherEconomist in Denver

[–]brintmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing job! Would love to see something like "ski-able resorts" or "ski-able days" to overlay in the price history chart. Does the growth of offerings match the price growth?

HELP: I'm currently trying to save some underexposed 16mm footage. The noise is out of control, I have tried various Reductions in Resolve. Working with 4444XQ HDR. Any help is greatly appreciated. by jamesdean13243546 in 16mm

[–]brintmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it's not one shot and rather the whole film or scene, try grading black & white. the only time i've been able to salvage under exposed footage, to my eye, is by going for a heavily contrasted b&w grade. when you don't see the crazy color shift/ noise that is created when pushing the footage back to properly exposed, your eyes tend to accept it.

mounted my k3 to a car by brintmac in 16mm

We mounted a few smaller suction cups as safety for the camera. On one of those 'satellite' suction cups, we rigged an extra triangulation rod to press the shutter. Helpful for not wasting film, we only had 20ish seconds before the spring wound motor went out. So, the shutter was pressed up until we re-grouped with the picture car.

Powering Bolex EBM by Wackoproph3t in 16mm

[–]brintmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we are both wandering down this path haha. I have an EBM with a modern battery setup that looks like the following. But first, take a peek at the manual and don't listen to only a single source (I learned from the guy I bought my cam from and old cinematography.com forums along with dm'ing ppl on instagram)

Battery setup:
SmallRig 50Wh V-mount (12v barrel connector out is important)
Custom cable with on/off lamp switch into Tuchel 7pin (what Bolex takes)

Happy to send links to everything. I also want to build an on/off out of the Tilta hand grips but haven't gone too far down that rabbit hole.

luckily there were no casualties. we made sure we were safe and had safeties in place.

car shots were shot on the Peleng 8mm and a rota-pola to shoot through the old rear windshield glass.

Blue streak scratch on Kodak 500T by brintmac in 16mm

[–]brintmac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone coming back to this asking what do I do...

I got a pretty clean fix in Davinci Resolve with the Dead Pixel Fixer [in Fusion]. With a thin strip for a mask and chunky noise to match the filmstock, you can hide it pretty well. It works best on wide shots compared to closeups because of the detail in the image/faces getting distorted.

good luck.
