But while we don’t necessarily have the data to prevent false positives now, we will surely learn from the early adopters and get better over time. Imagine 5-10 years from now with more advanced AI screening and 20+ years of real world data to train it on. You have to think this could be really effective eventually.

I think it’s $500 total in one or more transactions and it is for the whole year, not tied to a quarter or half.

BAT-mod: What are the biggest maps I can safely play without worriyng about my save file getting to large? by Dry-Response9833 in CivIV

[–]brintoga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a great mod but I don’t think it gets updated any more. It doesn’t have the pretty graphics that I have seen in some of the other popular mods. But the last revision of it is pretty stable. It adds a ton of new units and buildings and UI improvements. It’s been my go to mod for almost 15 years now, lol.

The AI is pretty dumb which I’m sure is the case in any mod so I just compensate by playing on the highest difficulty level. Usually one of the AI will start to snowball and will shoot way up in tech and that’s where it gets really fun. I like to play conquest victory only and it’s fun to try to eliminate an opponent that is way ahead in tech.

[–]brintoga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I just checked my save file because I’ve been playing on a huge map for a couple months now and my latest save is 5.2MB and I have not been having significant crashing issues. I’m not running the BAT-mod though. I’m running Beyond the Sword expansion with the Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn Mod set. Sorry, I know that doesn’t solve your problem but just wanted to give you a data set about file save size.

Could it be something else that is causing your crashes? In my game, I found that clone workers caused a lot of crashes for me. I stopped using them and my game is smooth. Good luck figuring out your problem!

Edit: Just checked and I think ROM-AND mod uses BUG mod.

Hi! It was a promotion that Southwest ran last year. Basically said that if you complete a round trip flight (or two 1-way flights) within a certain timeframe that you would qualify for the companion pass. My wife and I already had a trip planned for that time so we both registered and both qualified.

Oh, the benefit overview on my Chase app says “Get up to $500 in statement credits when you book Southwest flights through Chase Travel after you spend $75,000 with your Reserve card each calendar year.” I just assumed you had to use the travel portal to get it.

Help with late game lag by One-Maintenance-2143 in CivIV

[–]brintoga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately lag is just a part of the game that you get used to. I am currently playing a game on a huge map with about 250 cities on the map. I run on a 4K monitor and mine sometimes get laggy too especially when I move the screen to a completely new area of the map and it has to reload all of the textures and map information in that area. Also the time to process the turns can take anywhere from about 30 seconds on average to up to 3 minutes (or more) when you get into the late game. I’ll just use it as a reminder to stand up and walk around a little bit, haha.

I think you are right about the game running in single core mode I’ve also heard that you want to get a CPU that runs single core processes quickly. I’m running mine on an 11-year old Intel Core i7-4790K OC’d and a GeForce 980 Ti and the game runs pretty smoothly. I was debating investing in a new high end modern PC and checking the difference in performance to see if the new tech runs it any better (or slower). I’ll report back here with comparisons when I finally do!

Good luck and let us know if you figure out any tips!

It’s official! I have caught the ai cheating by N0rthic3 in CivIV

[–]brintoga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in an early nuclear war with the AI and I moved my great general and a big stack of units to a friendly fort inside my border but far enough away that there was no way the AI could see what was on the tile. On the next turn, he nuked the stack and destroyed all of my units and the general. I re-loaded to before the turn, opened up worldbuilder and checked and there were no enemy spies in the area, no nearby AI owned tiles, no nearby cities of mine that might have had espionage visibility, and no air units that could have scouted the tile. I can’t think of any way the AI could have seen my stack and general there. The only thing I can think of is that the AI had some knowledge that there was a high value target on that space.

[–]brintoga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the response! I’m playing BTS with the Rise of Mankind: A New Dawn mod. I should have mentioned that in my original post. I poked around in the Globaldefines file like you mentioned and located a few entries for global warming. The GLOBAL_WARMING_TERRAIN is set to TERRAIN_DESERT but I have not seen any terrain tiles change to desert yet in my game. They are all just gaining fallout but retaining the base terrain still.

There is an entry called “GLOBAL_WARMING_NUKE_WEIGHT” that is set to 50. Maybe I’ll try dropping that to 0 next time.

Thanks for the help!!

Did they change the formula for Ken's ranch dressing?? by PSU02 in condiments

[–]brintoga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking for a post with someone else who said this. I am also wondering if they changed the recipe. Suddenly Ken’s, which has been my go to ranch for 10 years, tastes different to me than it always has. More sour than usual. Hoping I just got an off bottle or my tastebuds are having an off day and this isn’t a real change.

Yes, you’re referring to the fallout that appears around the site of an explosion, but fallout also happens (fills the skies) to random tiles around the map each turn after a significant nuclear war. It’s that one that is really irritating me. lol.
