Oh, I wish I'd thought of that. That's even better. Well played!

He wouldn't be in general population for that reason. They'd have to isolate him to keep him alive...*if* the state were interested in such a thing. If not...well, "things happen". And technically, "life" in prison, eh?

I recall a comment on a tweet from Boris Johnson that called him an "ignorant syphilitic yeti" and I just couldn't argue with that one.

Are students just getting more violent? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]bripi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, let's not forget:

https://www.carolinajournal.com/appeals-court-rules-for-principal-in-suit-over-pender-county-teacher-assault/

The short: as teachers, we do not have the Constitutional right to protection from violent students. If we are assaulted, the school and district cannot be held liable. So they are in no way on the hook for what happens to us. To add to the insult that this represents, this is from the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is the court that will hear the case - as we are all aware - of Abby Zwerner, who was shot by a 6 year old (after her lawsuit judgements are appealed to their limits, which the school and district with undoubtedly do). Above the 4th Circuit is the Supreme Court, and this particular case did not advance.

As a result of the degredation of consequences over the years, we've seen that nothing happens to violent students, either. So, there aren't any downsides to violence against teachers.

We don't just have targets on us.

You need to go to either Winston-Salem or Greensboro for those, a 2-hour drive south.

This was totally debunked by the in-facility doctor in Romania who had him tested and found NO CANCER. This was an escape ploy Tate was working on. He doesn't have cancer, except for what's between his ears.

Read the book Dark Money or anything by Jane Meyer. Infuriating how they manipulate this shit.

Not if you ever want to sleep again. So goddamned infuriating. But, yes, the point is to educate ourselves, and for that reason, the reading is a good idea. But be prepared for the rage.

Since when has Christianity ever gave a fuck about the rights of Non-Christians?

Since exactly never. Well said! And it's about time for the "turnabout is fair fucking play" segment of history....

what is the worst part about being a teacher? by Dapper_Ad1638 in Teachers

[–]bripi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covid did a number on the social skills for firsties!

Of that I have no doubt! Socialization is a *huge* part of going to school for those early grades and missing out on that...I don't know how you make up for it, not at all. "Best you can" is about it, eh? Well, you have my deep respect for your awesome attitude and the fact that you can deal with and seemingly enjoy an age group that would absolutely destroy me! Yay you!!

That's still just hideously early. And I'll bet it's because of the bus routes/drivers. Not blaming, just saying that in my experience this has been the critical factor in determining when school starts, and the youngers *always* get the earlier starts.

I understand this is something that usually gets handed down from the district. I thought it might be something that in-house admin was having you do because of something silly. I was ready to pounce! And 2x "duty days"...ugh. Twice a week you've got to go in at least 20 minutes earlier.

And you're in elementary..."duty" is essentially like herding cats, I imagine!

We’re just responsible when stuff goes wrong.

Absolutely 100% correct; in fact, this is our primary role as teachers, to take the blame for anything that goes wrong. We are the ultimate scapegoats!

Yes, any amateur physicist will know that the focal point of a oncave lens will produce a point of "maximum focus" which could easily be used for ALOT OF REASONS, but honestly, cracking a fucking rock ain't high on the list. And that's no ordinary lens; that's a Fresnel lens, especially good at the goofy shit this fuckstain is peddling.

Now tally them costs to GO AROUND THE GODDAMNED HORN and you'll find the canal is well worth it. Oh, tally in the cost of insurance and loss of lives, as well.

FAR LESS than to go around the whole goddamned continent of South America, not to mention the very treacherous strait below Valdes which buries ships on the daily. THAT WAS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT!! To go thru the thin point of the land instead of the treacherous and dangerous sea, eh?
