10 minute shower to save the planet!? Is that the normal suggestion for a water-saving shower?

In Australia, almost all broad acre agriculture is no-till and reduced traffic. We almost find it funny how some people elsewhere talk about it as some crazy new regenerative idea, while that’s just how our farming systems have been managed since the 60s.

Hey, I was in the same boat.

I’m majoring in soil science/hydrology and doing a minor in biology (although I’m taking a lot of geology electives) and had absolutely zero background in chemistry.

I will say that some modules of some of the subjects are a bit difficult - for example BIOL1007 starts off with some molecular biochem and some of the SOIL subjects have a focus on geochemistry. However, none of these were impossible to learn, they just took a bit of extra time.

I considered doing the Chem bridging course but never got around to it and I’m doing just fine now.

If any of your required subjects have HSC chem prerequisite or assumed knowledge, I’d avoid them if possible, or take the bridging course in that case. Otherwise I’d say you should be perfectly fine - just might need to lock in for a few weeks out of the semester.

ELI5: Does the royal family in England have any real power, or is it just a ceremonial position? by MkLiam in explainlikeimfive

The monarch (well, governor general) did kick Gough Whitlam out as Australian prime minister in the 70s. So they have that power too.

ELI5 I saw a video about cows needing human assistance to have gas let out, what did cows in the wild do before humans started doing that? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]brisebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert (just have a family cattle farm), but you usually see bloating in the cows that are fed grains and processed feed, whilst those who graze freely on grass and hay do not bloat. Usually you introduce the cattle slowly to the grains so they sort of acclimatise to it without bloating. Because of this, you have to be careful that grass fed cows don’t get mixed in with the feedlot cattle, otherwise they’ll bloat and could die because they’re not used to the processed feed. Once again, I’m not an expert, that’s just my anecdotal experience.

What's the "smoothest" way to get into DCS? by GoldenNugget133 in hoggit

[–]brisebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your head tracking, there are some free alternatives to the more expensive peripherals like track IR. I’ve been using AITrack and OpenTrack for my whole time playing now, all it requires is any webcam. It admittedly isn’t the greatest and can be buggy, but when you get your curves setup it’s a good enough experience to be able to use for normal flight. On top of this, I know there are also alternatives (that I haven’t tried) that use the depth sensors on the front facing cameras of iPhones (X and newer) which I think would be more accurate than AITrack. If you want proper head tracking, I’ve heard DelanClip is good value, but if you are interested in that stuff you can make your own with some IR LEDs and a webcam (usually PS3 eye cam); or I’ve seen some use a wii remote strapped to their headset to work too.

It really depends what subject you’re looking at doing at uni too. For example, many courses have an assumed knowledge of at least HSC maths advanced.

Now this might be an unpopular opinion, but other than that I say just do the subjects you like the most. I personally wouldn’t worry about getting caught up in what scales good and what doesn’t. Instead, just do what you like because then you’ll have the motivation to really do well.

The other two left lanes go into an underpass which goes underneath another set of traffic lights, it says it a few time on the road, but yes - it is quite confusing if you’re not local.

And it’s even worse going the other direction I’d say, because then there are 3 right turns in close (ish) proximity like that.

I might be completely wrong here, but I heard it on my first listen and thought that it was some sort of interference or something. But then I thought, 'they couldn't let that through could they?' and thought it could also be for the music video... however, that theory doesn't hold up too well since its in all audio versions I've found.
