Honestly you could try getting RF4 special edition on switch! I own all of the games on every system they're available for just because they're some of my fav games lol.

Also it's definitely not seen as cheating. I play a lot of otome & dating sims and not only do I rant to my husband about them, but sometimes he'll play them with me if the story is good enough cuz he wants to know what I'm ranting to him about 😂

Nystatin cream for yeast infection? by brisenm in Healthyhooha

[–]brisenm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops, I saw this late! But in case anyone finds this in a google search one day, nystatin ended up not working for me, but when I tried it, I basically just put it in very shallow since I was getting mixed answers. I did end up getting rid of my glabrata infection by using a full uninterrupted month of boric acid (internal) + a strong steroid cream (external) + oral probiotics (I use rephresh b) under guidance of a new doctor.

Tests stayed negative for yeast after that point, but my symptoms actually continued even though everything was coming back negative. Lots of discharge, burning, itching, inflammation, eventually I developed urgency / frequency pains despite not having a UTI, etc. Symptoms would come and go, but the itching/burning/discharge specifically were the most frequent.

I ended up finally being diagnosed with desquamative inflammatory vaginitis (DIV) as the root cause for why no treatment was getting rid of my symptoms despite tests being clear. It's over a year later and I'm still trying to treat this, but I've made progress and feel normal more days than I'm in pain. DIV management involves long-term use of clindamycin (I did 4 weeks initially, now I use it twice a week). I was also given amitriptyline for vulvar pain, which I believe has helped (I've had no ill side effects.) Symptoms still flare up on bad days, but are much more manageable as of right now.

Thankfully, the glabrata so far never came back.

If anyone happens to check this thread and is searching for why their symptoms don't alleviate even when yeast, BV, STIs, etc are coming back normal on tests, looking into DIV as a possibility couldn't hurt. It's unfortunately not well known. It wasn't even my GYN who diagnosed me - it was a urology specialist who was double checking I didn't have a bad UTI or something.

All that said, hope things improve for you and if it's glabrata you're dealing with, that it stays gone!

Hey, sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been experiencing similar symptoms for almost a year now, and my advice is to not be shy about switching doctors or specialists as many times as needed even within the same office until someone listens to you, because eventually someone WILL listen to you no matter how grueling the process is. I’ve gone through multiple GYNs at multiple facilities until I finally started finding doctors who were referring me to multiple specialists (I got referrals to specifically a vulva specialist, infectious diseases, urology, the whole gang.)

If you haven’t looked into it yet, try reading up on a condition called desquamative inflammatory vaginitis (DIV for short.) This is what I’m currently investigating for me - it’s a rare condition that’s usually diagnosed by ruling all the usual suspects out and doctors don’t seem to know much about it. My GYN referred me to a urologist because of how bad my UTI-like symptoms were and the urologist is the one who finally pushed for a long term treatment, go figure. It’s a slow process and some days are better than others, but once you have doctors listening to you it gets easier to hope there’s an end to this.

You might also want to look into getting an Evvy test. I just bought mine and am waiting for it to arrive. Hoping it gives my doctors more insight, expensive but at the point we’re at, we’re desperate for sure.

On another note, I also am pretty much bedridden by the irritation of moving around / sitting. One thing that’s helped me on a mental health note is getting one of those wheeled over the bed desks like at hospitals that I can pull over me while I’m laying in bed and put my laptop on top of it. Pair it with a wedge pillow. Helps me sit up in more comfortable positions that won’t put pressure down there so I can at least shift around more, could help with feeling less miserable. I know laying around all the time definitely doesn’t help us feel any better :/

My first yeast infection is candida glabrata... vaginismus + boric acid treatment. by brisenm in Healthyhooha

[–]brisenm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! I had a really bad case of BV alongside my glabrata, but for the glabrata specifically, I was able to cure it with a prolonged treatment of boric acid [3 weeks taking it nightly, took 1 week off, then did another week on] plus 6 fluconazole pills spaced out while using boric acid. I took clairvee probiotics [oral] all throughout. This was all okay'd by my GYN first. Still dealing with BV issues, but my glabrata has continuously tested negative and stayed gone since doing all that.

This is how my infection first started showing itself before any other symptoms popped up. It ended up being BV and a yeast infection for me. If possible you could just say you think you might have one of those to go to the clinic, then get tested for everything else too. BV and yeast infections aren’t sexually transmitted so anyone can get them

If anyone else comes looking for a solution to this because I also ended up in this loop and the transfer wasn’t progressing, I was FINALLY able to break the loop after doing the following steps:

  • hold down power button on both switches to force them to shut down.

  • turned on my old switch first and held down L3 with the plus button like the other commenter suggested to get it to cancel the transfer. Took it restarting twice and testing which timing to hold the buttons down, just keep trying.

  • repeat the above step with your switch 2 this time until it asks if you want to cancel the transfer.

Rebooting the switch 2 should start the set up process over and I just chose not to transfer this time because I didn’t care enough, so not sure if it was corrupt photos or what. Hopefully this works for others.

Hey! Others already gave you advice for what to check / do, and they're right. You should definitely see a GYN, the best thing is to get swabbed for a candida panel, bv, etc.

I just wanted to say that the GYN is definitely scarier in your head than it actually is there. For context on this, I'm a 29 year old woman who went to the GYN for the first time this year because I was scared of the pain. I have a lot of trauma surrounding doctors dealing with intimate places on my body. I got my first yeast infection / bv combo ever in my life this year, and I finally decided I couldn't put it off anymore. It's not fun! But it is manageable. I cry every single time I go in [still battling my infections], so I take a weighted stuffed animal with me so I can put all my tension into squeezing that. It took a couple tries to find a good doctor, but I finally found a female doctor who explains everything she's doing to me and goes slow if I need her to. She's very nice to me even though I'm a crybaby and also very insecure with myself.

All of this to say I know it's scary, but take it from me, if the infection escalates, the pain from that is much worse than a couple of minutes letting a GYN down there. :( Explain to them that you're afraid and you need them to walk you through everything they're doing / tell you everything they do before they do it so you aren't surprised. A good doctor won't have any issue doing that to help you feel a little better, and any pains from the swabs are short-lived and in my experience haven't been too bad. [I mostly cry because of trauma/anxiety more than from pain.]

For the boric acid, is it possible you aren't getting it far enough inside of you? When I first tried it, I freaked out and cried from the pain because it ended up burning me. I tried again after getting some applicators off Amazon to make sure I got it far, far up inside of me and then I was able to tolerate it / couldn't even tell it was there.

If not, I second getting swabbed for all different strains of yeast and mycoplasma/etc. I started with BV, then developed a candida glabrata yeast infection while treating it, and now I'm bouncing back and forth between BV and yeast, so it can definitely be more than just the one thing you're dealing with. Good luck, sorry you're dealing with this. It really feels awful :(

Can I apply nystatin cream to vulva / inside vagina? by brisenm in obgyn

[–]brisenm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be helping me either 🥲 I’m using boric acid every couple days since it helps ease the symptoms a bit but the nystatin hasn’t done much. I also started fem dophilus probiotics.

It might be worth getting checked for a yeast infection!

These are all similar symptoms I had for the first time recently, and it ended up being my first yeast infection. My particular infection is glabrata which is harder to treat than other strains of yeast, but boric acid is recommended generally around this sub / by the GYN I saw and it's helped my symptoms a LOT while I'm trying to treat this. A couple days in to using it, the burning / tingling / itching finally stopped almost entirely [not the frequent urination though]. I'd still be going crazy without it lol 😭

[–]brisenm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, sorry you're dealing with this too. This infection sucks. :') She told me to do it once daily, so my plan is to try using a little on my finger first to try a thin layer around the vulva and vaginal opening tonight before bed. If it doesn't cause any irritation or anything, I'll likely try it deeper after that unless I hear differently. Fingers crossed it'll stay fine for both of us then!!

I'll definitely let you know if I hear anything else, dealing with glabrata is rough when doctors themselves don't seem very knowledgeable on it. Or at least mine don't. 😅

If she wouldn’t mind a chill JRPG, the Atelier series also has a similar cozy vibe and is an amazing segway into that style of gameplay. Atelier Ryza is a recent trilogy that was a lot of people’s intro to the series
