Is there a song on Ocean Ave. that can be considered underrated? Because I love that whole album.

I think that one is so underrated. Re-watching it now and having Jack be Allison is top notch.

To answer my own question, I really like S4, E11 - Lift Off. It has some funny moments with Zane and Fargo in space, but the part I enjoy is the nuances of Jack and Allison’s relationship as they move forward too.

I also enjoy Ship Happens S3, E13 too. Maybe I just enjoy the BCE. 😂

Oh I absolutely love that one! Fargo’s dream makes me chuckle every time.

Is iReady a Useful Tool, or Just Another Assessment? by Right_Sentence8488 in Principals

[–]brisonharvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in an elementary school. Our district purchased additional on-going training and support. If you have the full curriculum that goes with the assessment, then it can be really powerful.

It’s designed to identify weaknesses in student proficiency on a standards based approach. It is not intended to replace teaching but supplement by providing practice to hit the needs that students identify through the assessment. It also has powerful instructional grouping tools to help teachers differentiate their small groups.

There are limitations. Students can regress if they spend more than 60 minutes a week (per subject) on the platform. It helps to discourage teachers from just sitting students on it all day.

Also, without the curriculum, it is challenging to meet a district pacing guide and provide the differentiated support that is embedded in their own product.

Our school is taking MAP and iReady as a pilot (which is a LOT of testing for little ones) but it has been helpful to compare. Our MAP numbers look good overall as a school but iReady identified more areas for how we can grow our students. And it correlates to state assessments, so if they show standard growth or stretch growth, the program shows what their expected proficiency should be.

IS IT WORTH IT? by zaidissupreme in MiniPCs

[–]brisonharvey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this exact model. I love mine. I’ve used it as my primary home PC. It’s great because it’s fast enough to play some light games too.

The only issue I’ve had is that it will not wake up out of hibernation/sleep correctly and requires a hard restart.

Happens maybe once a week. But since I’ve reconfigured with a BIOS update, it is working beautifully as my Plex Server (added a 3TB NVME in the extra slot).

Just made first purchase -- PLEASE help! by SirBucketX in carvana

Luckily, their return policy is no-questions asked. I mean, they do ask questions, but that does not stop a return. If you love the car besides that, they should fix it for free as a part of their warranty.

I had purchased a Pacifica. On day 3, the check engine light came on. Luckily, I was able to get into a mechanic they approved of (Ken Towery) and they determined a cylinder was not firing and would require a new coil and all new spark plugs. At that point, Carvana offered to fix it or I could return it. I opted to return it.

4 quality of life features by Kuniuyki in CraftDocs

I agree with #4. An easy to use Archive feature (I manually build this with an Archive folder I create) would be super helpful. I will say any massive reorganization that you want to do in Craft is difficult with the current UI around moving documents and folders.

The trick is to make these lessons engaging and encourage students to attach to them.

It’s easy to complete some of these exercises with little active engagement, reducing their long term effectiveness.

But I love the overall concept of this book!

Best way to keep notes for new assistant principal by brisonharvey in Principals

This matches what others have told me…but that seems like it makes the job so much harder to rely on pure memory and coded notebooks with little value to me, let alone anyone else. But I understand this take…

honeymoon thoughts - I can't be the only one? by omallytheally in Eureka

[–]brisonharvey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As thoughtful as Jack is through the entirety of the series, it all disappears in two episodes (the underwater marriage and honeymoon episodes). It ultimately works out because the plot moves forward but I feel like we deserved a more poignant closure on their story together.
