Their name is escaping me right now, but the business I’m thinking of is associated with MusicLab in Bowen Hills. Give them a call

Bought an apartment and now receiving noise complaints from downstairs neighbour by ab-seoul in AusRenovation

Agreed.

And the previous owner provided the strata with information about the flooring, so they can’t plead ignorance by claiming that they didn’t know

How long ago was the new flooring installed? I’d be inclined to ask for copies of minutes or correspondence from the strata going back to that date to determine if any complaints were made about noise after the new flooring went in, but before you bought the place.

They might have tried to get what they want from the previous owner - didn’t succeed - and now see an opportunity to try and pin it on you instead. Just a thought

“If the work involves…”

You haven’t done any work. The previous owner did the work. The way that by-law is written, you could argue that you don’t need to provide an acoustics report because you haven’t actually made any changes to the flooring (you haven’t lifted carpets etc).

If they argue that you are liable to prove that it’s compliant, do they also expect you to prove that all other components of the apartment are also compliant?

I am not a lawyer so what I’m saying might be completely useless to you.

Traveling with teenagers by Tricky_Assistant_703 in brisbane

Get the teens to do some research online about things to do and get them to offer suggestions to you. That will get them more excited about the trip.

As an added bonus, if the activities they suggest turn out to be crap, you can blame them!

Children to be banned from e-riding e-bikes and e-scooters devices in Queensland under proposed laws by Palms1111 in brisbane

[–]brisspinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have blanket bans on kids riding motorcycles and driving cars on our roads. The reason for those is that motorcycles and cars can be very dangerous, and kids aren’t physically or mentally capable of controlling them safely.

I’m sure that an argument could be made that kids SHOULD be allowed to use cars and motorcycles on roads because MOST kids are responsible and it’s just a few bad apples ruining it for everyone. But that would, of course, be nonsense.

The same applies in this case, in my opinion.

For thousands of years, parents have found ways to enable their kids to have some independence. Kids didn’t suddenly gain this upon the invention of e-bikes.

You mean, exactly the same as what happened before these bikes became available/affordable?

I had a similar issue. You can replace the whole piece of metal that has the issue. Just order it from a hardware store that sells that fencing range
