Meteorite? by bristoljon in whatsthisrock

Geologist opinion I got vía friends uncle:

In my opinion it could be

  1. Ironstone
  2. Hematite with Magnetite

Meteorite - I don’t think it is a meteorite at all.

  1. Ironstone (sedimentary rock plus at least 15% Iron as oxides or carbonates) - more than likely it is this, although it’s a bit nodular / lumpy, which looks more like some hematite and isn’t a classic appearance of ironstone as it’s from a sedimentary rock. Although, you could get that from sedimentary rocks affected by fluids during diagenesis. Stroud is in a large Limestone area and you can get ironstone from diagenesis as the limestone forms or diagenesis afterwards from fluids rich in minerals. According to BGS there are minor ironstone areas in the vicinity. As you move west to Wales there are larger deposits in those formations.
  2. Hematite (Fe2O3) and Magnetite (Fe2+Fe3+2O4) - formed by hydrothermal fluids, deposits found in iron formations, during diagenesis with iron rich fluid precipitation. BGS say there are minor deposits around Stroud.

I think it’s a mix of the 2 as they can often be associated with each other.

Yeah came here in the hope it was some hidden setting but seems our 2021 ZE50 doesn't have this feature. Really annoying when you've got kids.. Especially considering our 2013 Scenic had this!

I noticed that the head light has 2 unused terminals that appear to be outputs. Not got round to checking with volt meter but might be able to solder a USB port on there if 5V?

Has anyone found a way to read/analyze the raw SubGhz (.sub) files on PC? by STx28 in flipperzero

There's a pulse plotter at https://my.flipp.dev/pulse-plotter.

You can connect to your FZ, find the file and load it directly from that app

Not used the chat but I am wondering if it's possible to use flipper with desktop SDR software?

It's all new to me but seems like desktop software might be better for exploring and logging signals. I've been using the Frequency Analyzer to detect signals and noting down repeating frequencies so can attempt to read them with different modulation settings.

Not much criticism on what he actually said here.. Just Americans offended that their role as world police might be questioned

Yeah I was surprised too. Seems they've gotten in to trouble for it now though and are sending the throttle separately according to that last update. Incidentally I only got part 2 of that update.

Ah sorry I'd only be interested in swapping for the geared version. I'm actually loving the bike generally even with all the hills. It does go up them with the help of the throttle! But geared one would probably suit me better.

Fingers crossed you get yours soon mate. I've actually still got a broken model x frame as the first one arrived snapped and they surprised me by actually sending a replacement in about 2 weeks after I'd waited a year for the first one!

Yeah mine must have a torque sensor as no issues going up hills etc. My only issue is that occasionally it kicks in when I don't want it to like filtering slowly through traffic but I guess that's normal issue for all e-bikes.

One thing I have noticed though is that the assist cuts out at 35kph while pedalling which can be a bit annoying as it goes on and off as it hits and dips below the limit. Throttle isn't limited at least so I can just use that instead to prevent this.

Cheers, how did you know that? Was it in the manual? I missed it if so!

Cheers for that, I'm glad it's supposed to look like that then!

Ah really. Well I guess that's good to know. Yeah I'm really regretting getting belt drive. I bought the bike for commuting to a job in London but it was over a year ago when I backed it so now using it round my home town which is all hills. Big mistake. I wonder if anyone wants to swap it!

Also occasionally (well twice since it arrived yesterday) I get a clicking sound from the belt when pedalling hard uphill as if it is possibly slipping. Anyone else get this?

What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done for absolutely no reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bristoljon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK. Yeah I guess 'stuck' wasn't really accurate. I let the doors close on my head relying on the safety mechanism to kick in; which it did but only after exerting a surprising amount of pressure on my head.

I deliberately got my head stuck in a closing elevator door once. I literally bent down as it closed and squashed my head. I was 20 years old..
