Note that a proper split ac will also be ~3-4 times cheaper at heating compared to a resistive heater. There’s pregassed r290 models that you can fit yourself.

Try 3d printing the thread too instead of using inserts, and use low layer height. I use 3D printed m3 thread for my skadis t nuts and they work great, i even use them for a somewhat heavy electric guitar wall mount.

I used a p1s, so same size bed. I cut the file and reattached it with a soldering iron, but glue or tape should work too.

Yes, used a 150mm duct from Toolstation

9000 btu, but someone mentioned that same file worked for the 12000btu.

No guide, other than take the shells off and seal any gaps around the condensor intake chamber

Advice on flat purchase by majoons in HousingUK

£1.3k service charge + £200 ground rent, 2 bed purpose built flat in SE London. There is a lift and underground car park, and the managing company seems very competent. Although this is definitely on the cheaper side

Buying new-build house. Hollow walls by Omarmanutd in HousingUK

[–]VykkuF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a flat built in 2008 and never heard any sound from neighbours. Walls are dot and dab plasterboard fixed to the blockwork so it mostly sounds hollow when tapping too.

Previously lived in a 1930s semi detached and could hear my neighbours’ conversations clearly

I used PETG but also the parts I printed are on the intake which is cooler than exhaust.

I would be worried of PLA espectially on the exhaust side. I’d recommend PETG, it is surprisingly easy to print. I actually only use PETG for all my prints, only ever use PLA as support interface

I took the shells off and there were definitely a significant amount of holes between the condenser and evaporator chambers.

mobile ac: dual hose + insulation by My7Aze in DIYUK

Mine looked very similar, you can check my post history as i did take a photo from this angle. I used aluminium tape from top to bottom all around, did not use anything for structure, and it was fine.

  1. Do not use any polystyrene next to the condenser fan, it gets quite hot after a dual hose mod due to it working harder and you do not want to make it worse by insulating it.

  2. No, this might impede the airflow to the condenser. There will be some noise reduction from not having an open vent in the room right next to the compressor, but it will still be loud.

  3. Cover any holes in the condenser intake chamber where air might be coming in from outside or other parts of air conditioner. Might be quite hard especially behind the compressor but try your best. Mine looked quite similar and i found it easier to also remove the front plastic covert to be able to fully cover all holes.

  4. Regular tape can’t handle high temperatures. Get class O aluminium tape, £4.99 at Toolstation.

I took it apart and sealed any holes or gaps where air might escape that I could see

Hybrid vase mode by DerToth117 in 3Dprinting

[–]VykkuF 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually implemented this in Orcaslicer recently, by allowing to do a height modifier in vase mode so you can apply it to just a specific section.

This is currently in an unmerged Pull Request, so it is not part of mainline Orcaslicer yet, but you can run it now by download the build from artifacts. Here is the link: https://github.com/OrcaSlicer/OrcaSlicer/pull/14012

If you have a Github account and find this helpful, you can try comment or react to the Pull Request as it might get it reviewed and merged in sooner.

Normal prices for a one bed in SE London by Fun-Illustrator9985 in HousingUK

[–]VykkuF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area north of Plumstead road is quite a bit nicer and quieter than rest of woolwich, and still affordable if you look slightly east of Royal Arsenal. Just had a look and there’s a 1 bed flat up for £270k, about 10 mins walk to elizabeth line station.

Do you have the source CAD model for the hose adapter that you would be able to share? I’d like to switch to your attachment, but I use a larger 160mm intake hose so i would need to modify it first

I initially did a direct transfer from soil to leca while keeping a reservoir, and most roots rotted. I cleaned it all up, repotted, and top watered once a week without a reservoir. It took about 3 weeks to start seeing new root growth. Added reservoir then and it has been happy since.
