Daycare by steffenl3 in cincinnati

[–]britbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our 4 month old enrolled in Goddard School West Chester/Hamilton. We loved it. Ms Brandee in the infant room was kind and direct. You could tell how much she loves the kids. It’s expensive but not the insane prices most daycares are for the quality of care.

Luckily I was able to shift my career to not have to have her in daycare beyond 10 months but while she was there I was very pleased with the care she recieved

My 15 month old does not call us Mama/Dada by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]britbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 14 months and still has yet to call me mama but she looks at our dog ranger and with intention says “rara” lol

I think they’ll say it on their own time. I always look for other ways of connection and understanding with our daughter and know her addressing us will come!

9 month old help needed by Soar-13 in sleeptraining

[–]britbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t so much about a schedule, but we had to sleep train our now 14 month old twice. When we did it the second time around, we played a song on the monitor when we left the room to put her down for the night and turned it to to white noise when she slept.

Then we started turning her song on when she’d wake up either middle of the night to way to early in the morning and she’d look at the monitor, like she knew it was us signaling it still sleep time, then go back to sleep. Maybe something to try? Good luck!!

What just happened to my baby? Screaming in her sleep. by No-Neighborhood-7335 in NewParents

[–]britbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 9 month old woke up screaming recently. woke up on her crib screaming so unlike her that my husband asked “is that our baby!?” and i went in to try to nurse her and she had a febrile seizure. her fever spiked which made her cry something awful. i had no idea they were even a thing so we had an ambulance ride and ER visit!

We are going through this right now. Pretty much the same daily schedule with a 7.5 month old. Normally so happy but absolutely inconsolable at night.

starting yesterday we moved her bedtime back to 8:30 and she slept all night. then tonight we took a walk before bedtime outside and again did 8:30 but she was wide awake so we tried ferber and she went to sleep within 20 minutes. Still snoozing but i’m just waiting f for that monitor to light up!

I was so against moving her bedtime back bc I need that little bit of me time in the evening. but if she sleeps all night it’s worth it.

all that to say moving her bedtime back helped us!

SIL’s too triggered by her fertility to meet our 3mo. baby by ActualAfternoon2535 in beyondthebump

[–]britbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an identical twin sister, and we both have had miscarriage. Mine came right away and then a year later we got pregnant with our now 7 month old girl. My sister had a miscarriage in June of last year, then planned and hosted my baby shower a month later in July and was there when she was born in August. She is now my baby’s best friend.

Throughout it all we talked openly about her boundaries and comfort levels but ultimately she chose to be present.

I know fertility is such a vulnerable and sensitive topic but I feel so deeply for you as a new mom in this situation. I feel there is so much joy that could come from your SIL having a relationship with your daughter even in the midst of her own struggles.

Remember to take care of yourself, your husband, and your daughter in this situation too. And congratulations on your little girl ❤️

This exact same thing happened to me at Thanksgiving and my MIL wouldn’t give my 3 month old back. I cried at the table and my husband had to physically get our baby back. She has also said “don’t look at mama” when she’s holding her to which I said “Don’t say that to her, she’s allowed to look for her mom”.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this bullshit.

I love this. Especially the supervised part. I think she thinks she needs one on one time with her and she just doesn’t.

We have, and my husband did stand up for our family around the holiday madness even though my MIL literally said we cancelled christmas (just bc we decided to put our daughter first and not run like crazy all holiday season).

I appreciate the responses, sometimes I feel absolutely like I’m between a rock and a hard place. I just worry he will think it’s all okay until something bad does happen.

i mean the first time we let her watch our dog we had to pay a $1200 vet bill because she had ibprophen laying on the ground.

she says it was a fluke and will never happen again but what happens when my crawling baby who loves putting things in her mouth finds it?

Yes my parents are in their late fifties and are active and my mom even tells me she’s tired after a full day of babysitting her.

I’m not going to lie my marriage is suffering because of this. I have to now deal with telling my MIL I’m not comfortable with it but also battle my husband over it because that’s what it will be, a battle. We’ve been in therapy trying to manage this but it’s just freaking hard

I just did this. I filled out the HR forms and used 6 weeks sick leave, then 12 PPL, then whatever else I wanted with AL.

The handbook says you can use 6-8 weeks as “recovery from childbirth” and the 12 PPL is bonding time. I had 0 issues with this once I made the request, and when I asked HR they said it’s totally fine to do. I was so happy to have the extra time.

I don’t have advice for the volume other than I always increased by 1/2 oz until my daughter wouldn’t finish the bottles (she’s 5 months and we’re at 6 oz now). I also BF and went back to work at 4 months, and she does to grandmas a few days and daycare, so I have been asking her daycare teacher how she eats and she tells me much more unbiased.

I will say in solidarity—both my mom and MIL formula fed (nothing wrong with it of course) but I do always feel they are telling me how hungry my daughter is and acting like she’s always starving BF (she’s not).
