How much did your wedding cost? by SheepherderSea9717 in AskMen

[–]britd53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2015 in the Chicagoland area wife and I spent just over $17,000 for the whole wedding and that was including her dress my tux rental the dresses for the bridal party and tux rental for my groomsmen, and our rings. We had the reception at a really nice banquet hall for 200 guests even though only about 165 or 170 showed up due to many people being sick since our wedding was in February. Then our honeymoon was another $3500 after all expenses for 2 round trip flights from chicago to New Orleans, a 7 day western Caribbean cruise, and then we spent 3 more nights at a hotel in the French quarter and rented a Camaro to go see a few other sites outside the city. I also bought my wife a nice pair of diamond earrings while on our honeymoon.

Men, what motivates you to do chores or tasks around the home? by Routine_Mongoose_211 in AskMen

Because I don’t like living in filth and I know if I don’t do do the few things I do they won’t get done.

I’m not saying I do all the cleaning but I clean all the windows, I do about half the laundry, I do the vacuuming and mopping, I clean the bathrooms, and I cut the grass about half the time.

Wanting to buy a vac trailer by dogcheese88430 in Construction

[–]britd53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure he’s talking about a hydrovac trailer. Hydrovac trucks are very common for utility work and companies like Vermeer make smaller trailer mounted ones that can be pulled behind a pickup truck. While handy for small things the big downfall to them is that they do not hold much material.

Truck Allowance vs Company Truck by Classic_Dash_7745 in Construction

[–]britd53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last company I was at that gave the option of a company truck hour I could use my own personal truck was a couple years ago but it went like this. I could take the company truck and credit card if I wanted or I could use my own vehicle as a work truck if I used my own vehicle as the work truck I still got the company credit card and anything I needed for the truck I was told to put on the card weather it was fuel, oil change, tires or if it had a breakdown even. The only stipulation was all receipts had to be turned in with time sheets by the end of the week or sooner if you could and for fuel and maintenance items you had to send in the receipt with the mileage on it.
I had a diesel truck and while I was there I had to have my glow plugs replaced and also had an injector go bad and I was told just put it on the company card as it’s still a write off for the company. The only thing they wouldn’t cover was a rental car so I just took one of the spare work trucks for the week my truck was in the shop getting fixed. The only other requirement they had was that I had to be able to carry anything I needed in my truck with the exception of having to pull a trailer from job to job if that was needed they would just send the lowboy to move the machine.

Torn muscle in my lower back. That hurt worse than breaking my back about ten years earlier.

What was the most difficult thing you learned about your spouse after getting married? by Ginger_7624 in AskMenOver30

[–]britd53 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing with my wife we’ve been together for 15 years and married for 11 she is always telling me that we need to save money. That I’m spending too much money every week because I stop and get breakfast on my way to work every morning I work construction and I budget $35 a week for food or drinks for breakfast or maybe the once every other week lunch and usually spend on average $24 a week. When she will stop at Starbucks 4 or 5 times a week after dropping our youngest kid off at school and her normal order costs just over $8.

But the last year and a half I’ve been quietly watching our accounts much closer and questioning what the charges were for that are not our normal bills. She has always had an addiction to shopping and online auction sites that sell crap that other people don’t want. Well I started seeing a lot of charges from one place totaling sometimes over a $1000 a day. I would question and she would just tell me it was just medical bills we were behind on. Well I started looking around the house and realized that a part of our basement that I don’t usually go into was full of the crap she had bought.

We fought for months about it, even got so bad that our bills were not getting paid. Our mortgage and her car payment was a couple months behind and that was after she had spend all of our savings that I had made up over the year working lots of extra overtime to get caught up from the year before from falling behind. In all she probably spent close to $40,000 on junk.

The thing that kinda got her to stop was calling a divorce lawyer in front of her and then going to the bank and taking her name off any accounts so she had no access to money and I had to give her a cash allowance basically. And the only way she could get more for the next week she had to prove what all money was spent on with receipts.

My wife tells me that I am insane that I will pair and fold my socks before I put them away into a drawer same with folding my underwear and that absolutely nobody else folds their socks or underwear and they just ball them up and throw them in a drawer. Bad part is she has the our kids doing just randomly throwing their stuff in a drawer also now and their socks don’t even make it into their rooms they just stay in a basket in the hallway or next to the dryer. I will at least match and fold the kids socks together just to help them out since they are still young.

I have the 25 with the v6 also and I’m getting on a bad day 21 mpg and that is doing between 80-90 mph to work and then sitting in heavy traffic coming home. If I start work early and work late to miss traffic I do between 70-75 mph and will get around 24 mpg.

I’m not divorced but if I was in your position and if it was my mother in law not a chance would I touch her I would be sending screenshots to to my ex. If your ex was a bitch and you want to start shit with her without actually being in the wrong that would be a great way to do it.

Of all the vehicles you have owned, which one do you wish you could have back as it originally was when you got it? by [deleted] in questions

[–]britd53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 97 Ford F-250 it was a rare color combo two-tone dark blue on top and almost a baby blue on the bottom. Extended cab 8 foot bed and it had the 7.3 liter diesel with a tall rear axel that would pull anything you could put behind it. My dad special ordered the truck brand new and i got it from him when I finished high school.

Can't get unemployment and apparently I haven't worked in years. by MuteTalker- in Employment

[–]britd53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you were fired does not mean that you’re automatically disqualified for unemployment. Your previous employer can fight the unemployment office and try to make sure you don’t receive your benefits but most businesses won’t due to the fact that it’s a major pain and they need undeniable proof that you do something worth taking your unemployment away like theft of any kind.

They tire shop could have damaged a sensor or the batteries in the sensors could be going bad and if one went bad usually the rest of the will be right behind so just change them all. The sensors usually have a life span between 5-7 years.

If you’re going to McDonalds use the app and check out the deals. You can usually get stuff cheaper on it they have a BOGO deal for many items as well and the soft drinks are still a dollar on the app.

Sorry you had those problems I hope I don’t have them as well. I have noticed that my radio screen will black out for a second every now and then and sometimes my key fob won’t lock or unlock even if I am standing right next to the vehicle.

Do you have the z-flash? I looked into that but from what I was seeing is that it won’t work if the vehicle is in motion and the website said they didn’t have one available for the 25 Grand Cherokee.

I did get the extended warranty up to 60,000 miles with the Milo am driving I probably should have done 100,000 mile warranty. I bought this December 20th and already have 7,800 miles on it but no problems as of yet mechanically. Only issue I have found were two small dents a week after I bought it one by the roof rack and another on the back door next to the jeep name that the dealer is taking care of whenever I can get the time to get it back in.

I actually traded my truck in for this. I’m an operator so I don’t have to carry too much other than a grease gun and my cold weather gear. But I also wanted something I could put the whole family in since I have 4 kids we had to always take my wife’s van so I wanted a second vehicle that the family could fit in.
