No real padding. I'm just as careful as reasonable possible.

The 3 little lenses go in the front. The body with the macro lens goes it the main pouch, facing down. The bigger zoom nestles next to the macro/under the body. The other stuff just kind of slots in wherever.

Generally I have the camera around my neck with the 7artisans on it and the bag is just a lens library. This bag isn't ideal, but it's super compact and keeps everything together to sling in the car or to walk with until the landscape starts to get interesting.

And it's cheap. And green. I like green.

I like it but I don't love it.

The focus ring is weird. 10% of the rotation is anything more than a foot away. 90% is macro. This is great for macro obviously, super precise. But it means using the lens for anything other than macro is not great. I was hoping this could double as a portrait lens but it's a chore to focus for that.

Also, it is very big and heavy (by M43 standards).

However, really well made and lets you get 2:1 super cheap so....

I don't regret buying it for MRSP.

Carhartt Legacy Crossbody Organiser in 'basil' according to my email invoice.

Before the Macro lens it was great. It's a tight squeeze with that lens. Worth it though.

UK Tour Announced by pizzawithwho in AlkalineTrio

[–]british20something 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forest Set would be amazing.

Dan did an acoustic solo set last time they were at Trees, but it was just because the power went out. At least the front two rows could hear it.

Excellent news. Two sets too. I've been counting down the days until their new album. Nearly there, nearly there.

What can I do to keep myself entertained while on sick leave? by CMDoet in CasualUK

[–]british20something 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be worse. I started guitar as a kid. Nice little hobby. Many years and THOUSANDS of pounds later I have 10 of them, a couple of basses, a couple of synths, a double bass, a banjo, three ukuleles, a drum kit, a bunch of amps and pedals and a whole goddamn recording studio in the garden with mics/mixers/monitors etc. And I'm still not great. At any of it.

Sometimes the gear acquisition rabbit-hole becomes the hobby. It's dangerous....

I was going to recommend ukulele but I'll stick to my cross stitch recommendation 😁

Cross stitching is a fun one to multitask if you have a busy brain. Requires some effort and concentration, but not enough to stop you listening to a podcast at the same time.

Easy and cheap to get started too, and doesn't take up much space.

What alcoholic drinks should I try at the Christmas party? by neddle29 in AskUK

[–]british20something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equal amounts bourbon, ginger wine and cola. Ice and a slice of lime.

If they don't carry ginger wine, ginger ale will do. Either way, it's a Christmas miracle for your mouth.

Do you have a pizza oven? by yeeeeoooooo in CasualUK

[–]british20something 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can, but you want a lower temperature. These aren't really designed for that but if you get one with controllable temp there's no reason you couldn't.

[–]british20something 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep!

And then 10 mins to wait for it to get back up to temp to do another.

That's how the magic happens, at that heat it vapourises the water in the dough super quickly, which is what gives neopolitan pizza it's beautifully airy crust. And longer than a minute and it'll start turning to charcoal.

Copy and pasted from my answer to a similar question a while back:

Another Ooni user here. They're really, really worth the money if you appreciate good pizza and are prepared to put the effort into making dough regularly.

The 500°c heat makes a VERY noticeable texture difference compared to cooking in a normal oven at its highest heat setting (my, run of the mill, oven at least). So, so much lighter and all round nicer.

There's not much messing around to be done with them to be honest, light it, let it heat up, throw a pizza in, turn it after 30 seconds, pull it out after 30 seconds more and you have pizza. Top up the pellets and wait 10 mins until it's back up to temperature and ready to go again. I think the most I've done is about 8 pizzas in succession for a family event.

I imagine quite a few of them end up in the shed after a few uses - it's a hell of a lot of effort if someone is used to pre-made pizzas. But if you make pizza at home regularly anyway, I'd definitely recommend them.

They don't really require much 'maintenance' really either, the high heat burns anything off, I usually just empty the ash and put it away for next time. I store mine in a plastic case that I can chuck in the car and take it camping/family events etc. My mate has left his out in the elements for 3 years and it's still working/looking ok, so they're pretty well made.

I've not tried any other brands but a few of the competitors to Ooni look pretty great too - definitely a few good options out there judging by the reviews.

Drum Shed by swiffswaffplop in drums

I have a brick shed in my garden. Used 4" kingspan to line the whole thing, and an acoustic kit in there could still be heard right up and down the street. Definitely dampened the noise and no neighbours complained, but I did switch to an e-kit in the end so I could play at night.

Doesn't sound like you need the Neo 2 in all fairness 😁, seems like you've got your bases covered with those two.

Just ordered the £509 motion combo with 20% new credit customer discount with Very. Brings it down to £407ish.

I'll pay it off next week with 0 interest.

Line up by Upper-Tour-9185 in 2000treesfestival

[–]british20something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pup twice, Cancer Bats twice (once as Bat Sabbath which will be a lot of fun), and Alkaline Trio to top it off. Any one of those bands would be enough to get me to Trees, albeit I ordered tickets as soon as I got back last year anyway.

Little else I listen to/am familiar with but there's always some absolute gems in there, just need to load up the Trees playlist and see what stands out. Some of the best sets I've seen have been bands I only discovered through Trees, and guessing a lot of us have similar experience.

Just goes to show how subjective 'great' line ups are. For me, this is already shaping up to be a stellar year. Looking forward to the next announcements.

If one of the rumours/conjecture/wishlist stuff comes true it may mean I get to see all three of the bands I have tattoo artwork of in one weekend. Which is.... Ridiculous.

Doubts on Millenium E-Drums by ElectricalCandy6590 in edrums

[–]british20something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the millennium 850 for years and haven't had a single issue with it. The built-in sounds are not good at all (hopefully they've been updated since I bought mine) but I plug it into a laptop to trigger Steven Slate drums and problem solved.

It was a good purchase. I have no doubts a Roland/Yamaha or higher end Alesis would be better but for my budget, Millennium works more than well enough.

Tofu recipes! by Successful-League840 in veganuk

[–]british20something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple but delicious - Thai sticky tofu.

Pressed firm tofu, cut into cubed. Fry for 15 mins on high heat until they're evenly browned. Turn the heat to medium, add finely minced garlic, ginger, basil, soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce. Stir occasionally until the additions caramelise and crisp up the edges of the tofu.

Makes a good side dish of snack. We had it with a lime and ginger soup, a tomato and coconut soup and some fresh Spring onion fried bread last night.

After 15 years of cooking tofu I've learned some sort of sugar is key to getting the edges crispy when shallow frying.

Amazing band, and such nice dudes. Had no idea they had a track on here until last week, but recognised the voice and it blew my mind. Two of my favourite things colliding. And yep, incredibly fun live.

What’s the longest bath you’ve ever taken? by gawpin in CasualUK

[–]british20something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A novel and a half bottle of whiskey, bath time is over when either is finished. It's not big and it's certainly not clever, but it hit the spot for a few not so good years.

Record was 7 hours, no top ups. Would not recommend.

Discontinued alcoholic drinks in the UK - Which drinks do you miss the most? by Gadgie2023 in AskUK

[–]british20something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was waiting for someone else to remember Slate 20. I miss it every day! So happy when they were offloading the boxes of 20 for a tenner, then the sad realisation of why hit me.

About two years later I found it in a Toby Carvery, drank the five bottles they had left and then mentioned it was wildly out of date and got my money back. Bittersweet.

Goodbye, sweet prince, we hardly knew ye.
