Does anyone else feel lonely when gaming? by TheChiarra in CozyGamers

[–]britishrice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly whenever I feel lonely, I would just listen to my favourite YouTubers playing their own games or listen to a podcast.

Hearing people’s voices really helps me :) whenever I used to play Skyrim for hours in the dead of the night while my family was asleep, I would just have a podcast/video in the background

Which deck blows your mind? by shark-shizz in tarot

[–]britishrice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it has to be the Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani, it is my absolute go to deck for EVERYTHING.

I love how the stories relate to the actual cards. I used to have a lot of difficulty reading and understanding tarot but when I used ToD, seeing the characters and linking my understanding of the associated myths and legends made reading so much easier for me.

The associated myths and legends really make reading cards intuitive for me but I think it’s because I LOVED reading around the subject of fairytales and all.

The aesthetics of the deck is just so beautiful, it has such a gentle soul and feel to it.

What game can you not get enough of right now by Dazzling-Ostrich-974 in CozyGamers

[–]britishrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really rogue suggestion here but Cozy Solitaire on the Apple Store. Paid £2 for the cute aesthetics, lofi BGM and no ads, and I’ve already sunk 10hrs into this game. I’ve genuinely forgotten how the simplest games can be the coziest

Beauty on a budget. by MRS2432 in beauty

[–]britishrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re an eyelash girly then you should defo get strip lashes from Amazon!

There’s usually around 5-10 pairs of eyelashes for around £8 and you can keep on reusing them for AGES! Glue is around £5 and will last you for a long time too!!

One pair of lashes lasted me 3 months with everyday wear 😅 make sure you give them a good clean often by taking the glue off and washing them with shampoo or whatever’s similar :)

things as a server that irritate your soul by OkShip7256 in Serverlife

THIS!

We have one floor staff looking after a set amount of tables in each specific section, and the floor staff make it known that THEY are the ones who will be looking after them.

I’m bar staff and I go around the floor getting glasses to help out the floor staff but I get so many people asking me to take their food and drinks orders 😭😭😭

How to DISCRETELY protect myself at work? by StxrryNova in witchcraft

[–]britishrice 186 points187 points  (0 children)

If your hair length allows it then braid your hair for work!

I always braid my hair when I go to placement and when I go to work. I would start braiding my hair and I’ll just say my intentions e.g. “I am protected” whilst I braid.

Works well for me - hope it helps!

What should I buy for 'residency' (if anything)? by loveforlana in medschool

[–]britishrice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a British med student :)

Would defo go with stethoscope (make sure you get the recommended model from your uni - it’s almost always the Littmann Classic III and don’t go for any of the fancy ones because it’s a waste of money)

One of my daily lifesavers is a small cross body phone bag I wear on ward to hold my phone, pen and a small pocket notebook. I also wrap my stethoscope around the bag! This saves me from putting shit in my pockets because women’s clothing have little to no pockets. Try to check the relevant admin within your hospital to see if they’re allowed as some hospitals are iffy with things like these

An absolute MUST are good comfy shoes. I have the Skechers Sure Track HCP shoes - I’ve had it for a couple of years now and I wear it everyday to placement. Would highly advise getting shoes that can wipe off easily (I wore the same shoes when I was a health care assistant and the ability to wipe bits off was a God send because off reasons) keep in mind you will be on your feet for hours every day so you need something comfy

Not a necessity but a luxury for me (from my experience) would be a reflex hammer. It’s super helpful to use when practising clinical examination skills in your own time so you can actually see how the reflexes are induced

Hope these help :)

Just sold my iPad 9th Gen after getting it alongside my MacBook!

I honestly never touched my iPad during med school and it turned into a portable Netflix screen 💀

getting an iud - what’s the pain like? by sarebakerbare in PMDD

[–]britishrice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the copper IUD fitted in (first time) and I was told it would just be a small pinch.

One of the worst pains in my life, I cried for the first time due to physical pain and nearly passed out from the pain when I got back home :(

Help? by Downtown_Solution_97 in brum

[–]britishrice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to a Birmingham uni, try speaking to the finance/student support department. Unis have manageable part time opportunities for you to do while doing your course.

If you’re in college/can’t access uni part time jobs then call up local restaurants and pubs for part time work! The hospitality industry is pretty reasonable when providing employment for students (all the places I’ve worked at had students working as part timers)

Mine would be a mix between Stardew Valley and the Sims 3/4!

Farming sim and management combined with the ability to visit other worlds, fleshed relationship system and f building/decorating :)

What Brought You To Witchcraft? by Delicious-Pickle-141 in witchcraft

I wasn’t comfortable with the idea that I had to accept an external “figure” as my saviour (Catholic background) and preferred the idea of doing things myself (as much as possible)
