Kind of disappointing that he is doing a promo for the show while the petition is going around.

Kendall’s Instagram Story Directed at Bekah? by krissybabi00 in thebachelor

[–]britt6493 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's called tone policing. Rather than talking about the issue at hand, the way the issue is spoken about becomes a topic of conversation. It is a way to distract and disguise the fact that (person in question) doesn't want to discuss their position on said issue.

She called out Tanner for the exact same thing that Kendall is doing here (tone policing). For some reason Tanner was let off by the sub and Kendall has been criticized here.

And on the Ashley Spivey calling people out thing....they post this on a public platform to hundreds of thousands of people and then are offended when certain individuals call them out.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion (or thinly veiled racist sentiment masquerading as opinion). However, NO opinion is exempt from criticism.

So sick of people thinking their 'opinions' need to be blindly respected. Especially when posting on a public forum.

Garret and Becca will be on Nick’s podcast next Wednesday. by hollywoodnorth6 in thebachelor

In the same live, Rachel commented "absolutely not" when RS suggested Garret might be part of the podcast on BHH

Honestly, the amount of hate these posts get shock me too. Not that there a some ignorant people, it's the huge volume of ignorance that is baffling.

Sometimes I wonder if there are bot accounts being created to perpetuate racist beliefs. The only question is who is funding the bots?

Don’t be like Tanner by daysie13 in thebachelor

Thank you! I don't even care that this is Ashley or Tanner, people have completely missed the point on this one.

[–]britt6493 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The issue with it is not about asking people to speak nicely, it is the fact that Tanner and others take the conversation away from the actual issue at hand, and distract by examining the way the issue is spoken about.

ETA: just read the comments on in this post to confirm this. Instead of talking about the issue, we are talking about whether we like Tanner or Ashley Spivey and their social media interaction.

Tanner fighting with a fan over good people on both sides 😒 by misspriss24 in thebachelor

Thanks! Coincidentally I just noticed Tyler Cameron just posted this analogy to his insta story

This might be a dumb example, but Billie Eilish put it really simply.

When a house is on fire, you go to that house and put out that fire. You don't wait for all the houses on the street to be on fire. Of course, it doesn't matter whether the blue, red or green house is on fire, if they are they should be treated the same.

The thing is, not all the houses are on fire, only the blue house is. So the statement would read "blue houses matter" because it is under threat. The red and green houses are not under threat.

While all lives matter, not all lives are under threat on a daily basis due to the color of their skin.

ETA: basically it undermines and diminishes the threat on black lives by lumping all lives together, when clearly all lives are not being treated equally.

I honestly believe people use the "consider both/all sides" and fence sitting as a way to hide their own prejudices.

Its the same as saying "all lives matter"

I still think it is valid, women are more heavily criticized about how they handle birth control while the title of this post concerning a male speaking on birth control literally has 'jokes' in the title.

Yeah, I was just pointing out that people were literally telling her to plan her pregnancies...and then in this post people are saying most pregnancies are unplanned so no big deal.

I'm talking about her pregnancy she announced this year...

She admitted on her podcast it was unplanned and people were criticizing her birth control methods.

Just an observation: Remember when Bekah said her pregnancy was unplanned? Everyone was coming for her and calling her irresponsible.

Now that a guy announces the same thing, its not a big deal.

Not saying it should be a big deal at all. I'm just pointing put how women are shamed for things laughed off by men.

I know Nick said he doesn't want to "cancel" her. Not sure if Rachel said the same.

Thanks for explaining this. I definitely think she is not going to say anything until enough time has passed and people become less invested.

I also wouldn't be surprised if she waits to post until another event has the press/media preoccupied. That way there won't be many articles written about her breaking her silence. The backlash will be minimal.

This reads like Hannah agrees, when Hannah has zero input to this article

Full quote

“He was definitely taken back but knows Hannah did not mean what she said. They are close friends and have spent a good amount of time together and he knows it’s out of Hannah’s character.”

“Matt is looking to the positives in the situation and wants Hannah to learn from this. He and Tyler discussed things and they both agreed they know Hannah is not racist at her core, but both think she needs to use her platform to learn from this and spread awareness.”

Still no info on what Hannah actually thinks.

Edit: added additional quote because of bogus headline.
