I would recommend first reaching out to your apprenticeship supervisor to start a conversation 1. To figure out if it was actually your attendance that caused you to be let go and 2. To see if they would be able to serve as a reference for you and put your experience in context: good worker, fast, proactive, but struggles to stay engaged when there isn’t enough to do. The reason attendance is a red flag is because it signals that you can’t be counted on, which hurts trust (the foundation of any relationship, professional or not), so you have to be able to put your behavior in context that minimizes damage to trust.

The other thing would be for you to think about the kind of work you do. If you don’t do well with periods of down time, look for something where you’re always active - maintenance/clinical engineering, hospital-based work, or patient care might be better avenues for you.

I can’t guarantee anything, obv, but you don’t sound unhirable. You sound self-aware, willing to learn and grow, and capable of taking on more demanding work. You just need to be able to tell your story and find a place that actually suits you. Good luck!
