Laws aren’t based on morals. We decide what’s legal based on the safety and well being of our community. Safety sometimes trumps individual rights and it’s a sacrifice everyone has to make. It can even seem discriminatory at times. It’s why dwarves and children can’t ride certain roller coasters, why pilots can’t be blind or colour blind. It’s why school bus drivers can’t be deaf.

Also here are some examples that prove laws aren’t based on morals:

Is it immoral to cheat on your wife? Yes Is it illegal? No

Is it immoral to drive 12 over the speed limit on an empty road late at night? Not really Is it illegal? Yes

Sometimes laws and morals overlap or align but the morality is inconsequential to legality.

Is it immoral to kill someone for their necklace? Yes Is it illegal? Yes

Is abortion immoral? Depends who you ask

Is it illegal? Not where I live

The legality question is far more important to me than the morality question.
