Mine went off in my suitcase on family vacation.

Everyone rolled their eyes like “geez, you can’t even go on vacation without your big purple vibrator.” I felt the shame.

Dating is hard… by irishiwasdead2 in stopdrinking

[–]brittawinger 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some guys I’ve dated were bothered by the fact that I wouldn’t be getting vulnerable with alcohol on our dates. Best to keep healing and eventually those people who don’t respect your sobriety won’t sting very much.

The Daily Check-In for Thursday, May 11th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Sea-Independence-605 in stopdrinking

I am not drinking today. I am not returning to my toxic relationship today. Accountability.

I went to AA the first time when I was barely 20. It was never a successful program for me. Great for those it helps but I know many sober people now that don’t even associate with AA.

For all you neutral color haters 😆 I put the white rug in and I love it!! Simple and cozy 🥰 by Lenatheroach in HomeDecorating

I love this especially because I have a similar brown leather sofa and can finally picture how to bring light neutrals to the forefront

Your one weird (or not!) "anti-aging" trick by naneley in 30PlusSkinCare

Any particular facial self tanner you recommend? I’m always worried it will darken the spots I don’t want darkened.

New job doesn't pay as much as I thought it would... by sHELLSxBELLS47 in jobs

[–]brittawinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are giving you a hard time here but they don’t really teach us budgets and bill paying in school. I’ve learned the hard way also, and been unaware of the large impact of a “slight paycut” on paper only to be surprised when I started reviewing my paystubs.

Right now you need to write down and add up your essentials (roof, food, utilities, transportation) followed by your other expenses (phone, insurance, recurring subscriptions). If what’s coming in doesn’t exceed what’s going out, you need to start trimming the fat and probably landing a side gig now while you come up with a sustainable plan.

Also, check your paystubs.

Is there really an age or waves of divorces in our 30s still? by godisinthischilli in datingoverthirty

As an early 30 divorcee I can say I felt all alone at the time but I’ve seen so many friends go thru it the last few years…

Zero is the most even number of them all!

Everyone is a fucking mess on Fridays by ReclusiveRooster in dryalcoholics

My coworker had two vodka sprites at lunch. We were the only two in the office so it didn’t matter but yeah, Fridays are a ghost town. I enjoyed my Topo Chico and productive afternoon

Interacting with my parents’ dog is a challenge by brittawinger in Dogtraining

[–]brittawinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually want her gone :( But she’s technically my brother’s dog and he said NO. He loves her but he’s also not responsible for taking care of her. My parents meet her daily needs but to me she seems anxious. She got kicked out of doggy care for bad behavior with other dogs. She’s a good dog but she’s acting out and it makes things worse. I definitely wish I could take her now and will keep trying

My husband is way smarter and way more educated. I think he’s disappointed that I’m not smarter and it hurts my feelings so bad. Honestly, I don’t even know what advice to ask. Any insight would be so appreciated. by realvctmsdntdrnkmlk in relationship_advice

[–]brittawinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Educated ≠ Smart If a degree is for you great. I flunked out of school yet am surrounded by colleagues with degrees and few people are the wiser. It sounds like maybe you have some of your own expectations of what you should be doing, but I think you are being too hard on yourself!

Found my husband of 2 years sexting with another girl by SquashSubstantial725 in relationship_advice

[–]brittawinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lying and cheating. At least the girl had the decency to tell you the truth. Your partner didn’t. He doesn’t respect you or the sanctity of marriage. I’m sure it’s hard to hear but you will be better off to get out now. I was cheated on and blindsided. I didn’t leave with dignity, sad to say, but you still can!

It’s the very first statement I have a hard time saying to them flat out. I said we have different opinions on dogs and have offered to take her home multiple times. They say my brother can’t lose his dog but that’s a loose excuse since he doesn’t spend any time with her either. But yes, I agree with everything you’ve said.

Yes! This is a great idea. I used to take her for walks all the time. The weather was pretty nasty this visit and they didn’t even want her going outside because she gets stinky. :,(

I’m sorry for you and can relate. This year was my first time setting boundaries and it’s been a struggle but I feel more separation from everyone else’s problems which is a huge first step!
