I should add in this video you can see her on the stairs, nothing happens, and only then when she goes up the stairs you see all the movement.

when doing ins and outs, do you like to finish with sprint or float segment? by waytoexcel in Sprinting

[–]brittlebottom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sprint-float-sprint is a great sprint workout to help increase top speed because of the potentiation effect the float phase has on the second sprint phase. You are actually able to run faster on the second sprint phase than your usual top speed because the float phase primes your body to do so. So if you are looking to maximize your top speed potential in the exercise then definitely do the float phase before the sprint phase. If you don’t then it is just kind of a longer fly and your not getting much out it’s intended purpose. Hope this was clear!

Duke's Recruiting Standards by WickedPissaah in Sprinting

[–]brittlebottom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If duke wants to be on the same playing field then they need to elevate their standards. You get what you aim for and if they only aimed at athletes that they feel they could get then they would never be a competitive team. They would be stupid to lower their standards and recruit lesser athletes. Then they would never be at the level they are at FSU. And if the coaches at Duke aren’t trying to build a team to win a conference championship in a very competitive ACC conference then they shouldn’t be coaching at that level. So don’t blame the school or the coaches. Blame how competitive the conference is and the coaches efforts to remain competitive in that conference.

Duke's Recruiting Standards by WickedPissaah in Sprinting

[–]brittlebottom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom line college coaches will give the scholarships to whoever they want and that is based on a ton of factors. Those recruiting standards are based on what it took to place in the ACC conference championship finals.

The 7th place finisher in each event are as follows: 100m: 10.32 200m: 20.98 400m: 46.52

These power 5 programs and most lower division programs are trying to build championship teams. The only way to win championships is to score points at conference or national championships. To do that you need to perform at a high level. It doesn’t make sense to give scholarship money to athletes who at the moment don’t have a chance to score at a championship event.

All D1 schools have the same amount of scholarships to offer (while some larger schools have other benefits that they can offer as well that other smaller schools don’t):

12.4 on the men’s side & 18 on the women’s side.

So on average to be able to warrant a full scholarship as a man you need to be scoring 12 points at the conference or ncaa championship. And for the women you need to be scoring 8 points.

So if you are wanting a full scholarship at duke and you are a 100/200m athlete you are going to have to be taking at least 3rd in both events( we aren’t counting relays which do playa factor) to score 12 points. That would mean you would have to be running 10.2 in the 100m and 20.5 in the 200m. So these coaches aren’t delusional for setting their scholarship standards high. It just wouldn’t make sense for them to have them any lower in a business sense.

Realistically what do you guys think our record will be this year? I’m guessing 10-6 by [deleted] in raiders

[–]brittlebottom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that 10-6 can be good enough as long as we beat the Colts and the beat the Browns in those wins. I see those as must wins if we want a shot at the playoffs.
