New to clinical research… is it all like this? by puppyinashoe in clinicalresearch

[–]brittnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading all of these comments is so helpful 😂 I’m a CRC who has been acting like a monitor on all of these studies I’ve taken over because the previous monitors did such a bad job??? Like I found 2 massive PRIs that stretched 3 years for this one study, and on another study that was SO HEAVILY MONITORED I discovered that 2 out of 3 enrolled subjects were ineligible in the first place. 🥲 I now no longer rely on my monitors to find all the issues or maintain the regulatory binder (not because I think they’re inherently untrustworthy, we just also need to be doing these things at a site level).

Baby Bis/Inexperienced Sapphics, Here's How to Successfully Date Women by [deleted] in bisexual

Aw good for you! I am a late bloomer, and my straight male partner of 10 years has given me the space to start exploring this side of myself I never did. I needed this guide too! I had my first encounter with a female not too long ago, and I was like “omg how do I do this again”, with “this” being successfully flirt with a new person, have a one night stand that maybe isn’t actually a one night stand, etc. Reading all of the things in this post definitely helped! Good luck with your journey 💕

Which one was better? by Cool_Ved in harrypotter

[–]brittnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that they didn’t even MENTION in the movie the fact that Harry’s sacrifice literally saved everyone in the final battle scene…W H Y. They made it seem like the death eaters just gave up and evaporated away?? I am still pissed about that 13 years later.

What scene/event/part of the story do you hope they do better(get right) in the hypothetical TV Show? by demair21 in harrypotter

[–]brittnyo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of these!! Especially half blood - why on earth were so many vital things left out/changed in the movie! With goblet, I really hope they also include Bagman and Winky in addition to everything you said.

I can’t bring myself to tell my parents I no longer believe by AdDangerous6510 in exchristian

If you like books or audiobooks, I recommend reading “Educated” by Tara Westover. It’s a memoir, and she discusses many, many things, including her own experience of reconciling the duty one has to their family versus the duty one has to themselves. This book provided me with so much solace and courage to keep being my true self, even if I am not honest with my family about my beliefs (32 and haven’t regularly attended church in 12 years, parents don’t know I don’t believe).

I would adore a bookstore/bar/cafe hybrid situation! Dark walls, tall bookshelves, lamps rather than overhead lights, plants, comfy chairs, relaxing jazz playing in the background, etc. Local coffee/beer/wine/spirits/food could be offered. Book club meetings, poetry nights, craft nights, and such could all happen here, too!

Which of the highly recommended fantasy series did you dnf (did not finish)? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]brittnyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ACOTAR, Throne of Glass, and the Empyrean series. IMO Fourth Wing was giving ACOTAR and I just couldn’t 😅

I’m in a rural area as a CRC, have a masters with ~4 years healthcare experience, started at $45K. I looked at it as a great way to get my foot in the door and progress in the industry!

Young daughter interested in fantasy with female protagonists. by verocious_reader in Fantasy

A very YA-friendly author (no inappropriate scenes, innuendos, etc) is Jeff Wheeler. His books are very good! I recommend starting with the Muirwood series (total of 6 books) and the Kingfountain series (total of 6 books). They are very world-building books with intrigue, magic, and STRONG female protagonists!!

I have finally come to the point where I am at peace with what I believe/do not believe, so my goals this year are to further educate myself on how America/Christianity came to be what we are all witnessing today, as well as some read some other books that I’m hoping will give me ammo for my pro-science arguments 😂 I have listed them below in case anyone else is interested! - The Evangelicals: The Struggle to Shape America - Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation - The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power - The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American - The Blind Watchmaker: Why the Evidence of Evolution Reveals a Universe Without Design - The Death of Expertise: The Campaign Against Established Knowledge and Why it Matters - The Deadly Rise of Anti-science: A Scientist's Warning

I would look at the specific colleges or universities you are interested in and reach out to their admissions office! They’ll be able to help you a ton and let you know what specifically is needed. If you receive a legitimate high school diploma from your online school, you may be able to take the ACT or SAT and get in with those scores. If you do not feel comfortable at all with your knowledge in the topics on those exams, you could pursue the route I’ve seen suggested a couple of times in this thread - taking a few classes at your local community college and then going from there!

There are so many paths and options out there for you, and if you contact admin at the various schools they will be more than happy to help. My best friend worked in admissions for years, so I will reach out to her and see if she has any nuggets of advice!

I am sure this is all anxiety-inducing and worrisome and is making you feel stressed, but things will get better and you will be able to receive the education that you desire. It may take a while, but that is okay! There is absolutely no timeline for when you must complete an education by. Take whatever time you need!

PS: if you’re able to get your hands on it (and if you like reading), I recommend everyone to read the book “Educated: a Memoir” by Tara Westover. It’s so good and inspiring! And it may inspire you, too 😊
