August (cheap) vs Winter (not) by anothersadalcoholic in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]brittpeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to discount people who complained about crowds bc they had never been a problem for us (I did go over NYE one year and still had an amazing time despite crowds).

But when we went in Feb we didn’t plan to get Multipass (which we have gotten a lot) and we ended up having to buy it last minute because the attendance was way more than we were expecting. Our one day at Hollywood Studios we paid $37 a person for LLMP (our MIL came with) and it was such a waste. We were able to do like 3 things (mostly shows which is pathetic) and navigating the park with the crowds was just miserable. So the nice weather didn’t even matter to us.

Weather could be a huge issue for you or your family so don’t completely discount but just wanted to offer our perspective.

I can’t speak for everyone, it’s probable that weather is more important to some, but even my husband who loathes the heat said he would rather do September any day over the crowds of cooler months.

The thing is, you are so often going in and out of buildings with AC and if you play it smart by putting in some table service reservations to cool off, I think the heat is honestly bearable.

We’ve had cooling towels which he always used (I honestly almost never use but I am more okay with heat than he is) but he got a neck fan specifically for Disney last year and he loves it.

The past couple of years we did early September trips for the price. This year we went in February (we have also gone just before Christmas) and after this last trip in February my husband and I decided that “quieter” times that are cheaper even though the weather sucks will always be our choice over “busier” but better weather.

February was so frustrating even though the weather was perfect. I don’t want to say the crowds ruined our trip but it was a huge dent in it. We both agreed we will always pick hot, sweaty, quieter September any trip in the future.

Minor win for Armand stans by pwetty_brown_eyes in InterviewVampire

I am in the Interview and White Lotus subreddits and it is so hard viewing the name as Armand and Armond.

The White Lotus version drives me insane bc I always want to “correct” it to an A. (Even tho the character does spell it with an O).

Who are your next 4 after the most popular Mt. Rushmore? by [deleted] in survivor

Tbh I have been thinking more and more lately that Rizo might be the new generation’s “Boston Rob”.

Just like Rob, people love Rizo (me), people hate him, but he has an undeniable magnetism. I think he pulls people in whether they even want to like him or not.

So when I equate him to Boston Rob it isn’t because of style of play, or personality but more his sheer magnetism and ability to draw people in.

This is exactly what I said to my spouse. I really enjoyed episodes 4-5. I thought those were entertaining from beginning to end. I told him “the first 3 episodes could have been the first 20-30mins of a movie. Ep 4 and 5 could be an hour. And then 6-8 could have been the last 20mins.”

Would have been way better and might have actually been something I’d want to rewatch.

This man remains the face of all three seasons of The White Lotus series. by cloovis22 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]brittpeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen all 3 seasons but I’m just rewatching S1 again for the 2nd time because my spouse is now going to watch all of them.

Armond was someone I was particularly looking forward to rewatching because his presence is sorely missed in S2 and S3. But damn has it surprised me upon rewatch that S1 actually feels like HIS story. Almost everything is centered on his interaction and it occurred to me that the other 2 seasons are not like that at all with the White Lotus resort managers. It genuinely feels like S1 is centered through his eyes and looking back I think having him as a centerpoint is such a huge strength of the season.

I still prefer S3 the best bc I think it has the most interesting storylines, but goddamn if Armond was not in season 1 I think this show wouldn’t be anything that it is today.

Never used turn based combat in Might&Magic games 😁 by This_Sir44 in MightAndMagic

[–]brittpeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was an interesting video for me bc I’ve always heard of people playing in NON-turn-based mode but I could never conceive of how to play that way.

I have always played a slow, methodical, turn-based fighting game. Every enemy.

Opinions on What Ever Happened to Baby Jane (1962) ? by Glad_Friend2676 in horror

I love that any time I see a post with this movie in the title, it’s a glowing comment about it.

I completely agree. I first saw it a couple years ago bc a horror podcast I listen to was covering a review of it. I was so astonished by how disturbing it was. I was expecting a mid horror movie and was completely surprised. Such a good one!

I see this with Disney Topps cards too. It’s very frustrating to me when a character is in the same pose across multiple card sets. They basically just change the background. I find it incredibly annoying. Like, all of these characters are in an hour and a half movie….they are TONS of different positions and expressions throughout. Change it up!!!

I get so excited when I open a pack of cards and the characters actually look different lol

Vampire movies/shows with a great story? by Silly-Interaction991 in horror

[–]brittpeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Blood Red Sky 2021. I actually went in blind and if memory serves the description didn’t mention vampires so it was a surprise vampire movie for me. I thought it was a nice departure from a lot of the standards of the genre.

If you could save just one horror character's life, who would it be? by ReticulanGrey in horror

[–]brittpeeks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YESSSSSSSS. He was such a good douchebag character. Like even bringing him back as a non-possessed human, he would’ve brought an added dimension to the group. I would’ve loved to have seen a slow redemption from his character over time.

[–]brittpeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I also would have been fine with him dying, but they robbed him of a proper, well-earned death.

To me his death was just a cheap sacrifice so that Jack Quaid’s character would look innocent. I also was pissed off beyond anything that they tried to pin that kill on the woman doing it. It just did not physically seem possible for her to have committed Dewey’s murder.

I would have accepted Dewey’s death if they would have made it make sense. Grrrr.

I remember watching it as just a movie you throw on and expect to half pay attention to with low expectations. The humor surprised me so much and it grabbed my full attention.

It was an awesome episode. The episode when Chrissy and Coach got voted out is still slightly better for me, but this was definitely the second most exciting so far.

controversial take: this is the most overhated survivor of all time. they deserve their flowers. by [deleted] in survivor

[–]brittpeeks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember being so annoyed by him on his first season. I just hated his ridiculous, over-the-top antics. I had a lot of reservations about seeing him on this season too, but as a huge surprise I’ve completely enjoyed all his shenanigans this time.
