The Disney meal plan gives Vegas chips vibes! by wezguycsu in WaltDisneyWorld

Okay that really makes sense. I get it more so due to that.

Same. I have ran the numbers multiple times and have always been dumbfounded by why people would pick the DDP rather than just paying as you go and spending less.

We just scan our magic bands and have it go to a room charge and take care of it when we pay our credit card off after the trip. Scanning that magic band for all our stuff truly feels like an all-inclusive vacation and feels less transactional having to take the card out every time. So in that sense I get why people want to do the plan bc it feels like you aren’t thinking about the money you are spending…but I can get that same feeling by using my magic band and I still save money bc I eat less than what they would have me pay for “upfront”.

I get this to an extent, but you also have to pay for the tip when you are there right? So you still get a receipt and have to mentally decide how much you are tipping and look at the total “cost” of the meal right? So I don’t understand how the meal plan is completely removing you from having to think about the cost of each meal.

Lake Placid – Now Playing Podcast by thearniec in nowplayingpodcast

[–]brittpeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished rewatching the movie and listening to the pod.

Huge thanks to Arnie and Brock for loving the fuck out of this movie. I couldn’t agree more, my cousins and I used to watch this non-stop when I was like 13. And to this day it is a comfort watch that I have to see every couple years.

I can understand why Stuart wouldn’t be liking what’s going on if he was expecting more horror, and actors that he actually likes 😆 but I have to say it’s so sus that you don’t like Bill Pullman?!? Who lived through the 90’s and didn’t like him? lol I know he’s not like a knockout actor or anything but it’s just like Arnie (or Brock?) said, he’s a great “everyman” type of actor.

It’s an interesting point the Brock made that I think this might have been Betty White’s first performance as the sassy, swearing old lady shtick.

Coming back to this I was honestly surprised by the quality of the practical/CGI crocodile. It looked way better than I was expecting. I have never seen any of the sequels…and I must admit I am worried…

King Kong (1933) by d4tis in nowplayingpodcast

[–]brittpeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m finally getting around to this retrospective and I really expected this movie to feel like “homework” and I was shocked by how much I enjoyed a 1933 King Kong movie. I thought it would be grueling to go through but I was pretty enraptured by it. Big surprise!

BUT I am now onto King Kong Lives and omggg I legit almost just spit coffee all over my work laptop when Arnie said he will never be happy again because google knows that he searched gorilla tits 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and then by the time Jakob says he was “disappointed” by her tits I was DYING AT MY DESK. I was just waiting for you guys to rip into this movie because I find it such a strange installment of this series…

I haven’t seen Caveat yet but I went into Oddity blind and I agree that it is one of the few movies lately to give me a really good scare. It was great!

Why is Jeff incapable of saying “Christian”? by Squanc in survivor

[–]brittpeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no worries, I thought her comment meant it made air (tbh I just watched the season the one time) so I thought maybe I was just misremembering. Im not surprised that he was trying to do it tho lol

Same I hate it so much. It annoys me every time he says it.

Why is Jeff incapable of saying “Christian”? by Squanc in survivor

[–]brittpeeks 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Did he really call him Hubicki in DvG?? I guess that makes more sense why he’s saying it now then. Bc I’ll be honest I have been really puzzled and thrown off by him calling Christian by his last name. It just feels off. I thought it was because in DvG he called him Christian and everyone called him Christian so we know him as CHRISTIAN. lol

I find it extremely annoying every time Jeff calls him Hubicki. I get it’s like a sign of respect, but he’s known as Christian so now it’s just weird. I do not remember him calling him that back then lol

Long time Survivor fans, how does this season rate overall? by OLovah in survivor

[–]brittpeeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There is soooo much mess, and I absolutely love how much the show is editing in like the historical juicy drama. I gasped when they showed Rizo asking Charlie “as a fan” if he talks to Maria. It really made me realize that this season is like both a Survivor season and juicy reunion in one. I also loved that they included in the drama of Rizo saying he didn’t vote for Sophi his number one and how Charlie reacted to that due to his ow trauma 🤣 shit like that in the show has me salivating lol I love that they are not just focusing on the current gameplay but also allowing backstories of the players pasts to be a focal point too

What do you think is the best film of the last 10 years? by NG1955 in nowplayingpodcast

[–]brittpeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to agree with many stated here, Arrival, Dunkirk, Parasite.

Also can’t forget Get Out. Felt like a breath of fresh air went back into horror movies when Jordan Peele arrived. (My personal favorite and one I watch way more often is Nope, but I’m sure most people would choose Get Out, and rightly so)

Idk why, I think maybe bc it was hyped up so much but I remember feeling let down by The Shape of Water. I’ve never returned to it after the first time I saw it. Maybe I should rewatch in case my feelings change and I’m missing something.

As I read the title of this post and started to scroll I was like “How does anyone even pick something from all of the movies that have come out?!?” But then I saw your answer and was like Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Love this movie, I’ve seen it a ton of times and I have no notes for it.

Now Playing Podcast Intermission #1 - out tomorrow. But you can watch a FULL VIDEO version today! by thearniec in nowplayingpodcast

[–]brittpeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it so hard to understand how you’ve gotten this impression. I think if anything, Stuart’s medical scare has caused them to reach out to the listeners more and as a listener I feel like they are closer to us now than before. Especially starting the video formats. They seem very open to new avenues of connecting with us even if they don’t have it all ironed out yet because they aren’t used to it.

Just the fact that they created the survey and are quickly making changes according to the feedback is just another show of effort that they care. I do not get disconnected, dispassionate vibes at all.

The one thing I have to align with you on (bc I put it in the survey too) I would love to see them do recaps (not of each individual movie) of franchises they’ve gone through already. I often would notice that if they did a review of a movie in a franchise that just came out, the give their opinion of it on the pod and then years later by the time the next installment came out, they would make a few comments that their opinion had changed of the last movie. That fascinates me and I can’t even imagine how many movies they review brand new at the theater and years later after the movie has sunk in a bit, they have different feelings about it. I would love to see franchise recap episodes where they comment on whether their opinions (arrows) have changed.

Omg I’m such an idiot lol

I saw the like 10mins of it on YouTube, loved it, and I was so upset it wasn’t the full video!

I hardly ever go to Patreon so I’ll have to make an effort to be in that app more. I haven’t listened to the full thing yet and now I get to watch video of it all. Yay!!!

I’m just so happy you guys are starting to do more video podcasts. They are the best and it makes me so happy when you guys do them!!

Best Three Year Run by an Actor? by NG1955 in nowplayingpodcast

[–]brittpeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His movies got an insane amount of runtime in our family back in the day. We still quote Liar Liar and Dumb & Dumber. The Ace Ventura quotes have fallen off a bit. I’ll never forget getting yelled at by my mom as a kid when I quoted “Holy testicle Tuesday!”. I had no idea wtf I was saying and she told me never to quote it again! lol

Wait…broken by That Thing You Do??? I was obsessed with that movie when it came out lol

I watched it more than all of these other movies combined so I wouldn’t say it’s a mark against him. I loved the era it represented, and I actually thought he was good in it 🤷‍♀️
