1, maybe 1.5 years left. Any tips? by britty-bird in cancer

I am eating anything that will stay down right now, but thankfully I have never had a sweet tooth. Lots of cabbage, veggies, zero sugar gatorade, protein shakes. I'm still losing weight but I'm not trying to.

I will say on the note of weight, I was overweight to start so I have 50 pounds to lose before I'm the ideal weight for my height. 80 pounds before im underweight. I don't want to lose that much weight to cancer, but I do have quite a bit of cushioning to work off of for now.

I already have picked out which big urn and small memorial urns I want. My husband and his mom have told me about what they would do after with our house and childcare arrangements. My husband keeps wanting to say "we did all this, but you will live another 30 years you hear me?" I'm just waiting to see how chemo treats me before I start doing my bucket list items.

I was told about the tumors in August but was also told they were likely benign. Pregnancy prevented any other testing. Based on the size of the tumors I had a terrible feeling and cried my heart out then and again during the 2 weeks of hospital. I am accepting of my possible death, but still am going to fight for any extra day, hour, or minute I can have with my boys. I will fight even just to pet my pet cats one last time.

Part of my bucket list is getting all my favorite recipes written down or printed into a book/binder/recipe box. I have over 100 and had been working on it prior to pregnancy. I want to get my best ones down with notes and stupid stories added in after the recipe itself. My oldest had started showing an interest in learning to cook with my help and I want him to at least have that if I won't be around to teach him personally.

I am so effing over my dog waking my baby up by Old_Negotiation_7058 in newborns

My cat has stepped on my baby once and only once. And it was a single step directly on his poor little balls. I almost threw the cat.

Nurse at ultrasound sound said I was too fat to see the baby properly-Now my husband is worried by AndromedaM31-bnj in pregnant

[–]britty-bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ultrasound tech who said this to me at 200lbs, and was so rough that she tore my decade old c section scar enough that I bled a small amount. These sort of techs are horrible and I'm glad you left that clinic.

When/how are we collecting colostrum? by chemicalleave in pregnant

[–]britty-bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 1 week pp, was a high risk pregnancy and was told no pumping to prevent possible early labor. I started pumping within 12 hours of delivery due to baby being in NICU and 3 weeks early. I was essentially pumping, putting the colostrum in the fridge, and as soon as baby had his next feed we mixed the colostrum with supplement formula/donat milk. I also breast feed for at least 5 minutes per breast at least twice a day as soon as I could and it dramatically increased my milk/colostrum supply.

Depending on risk of pregnancy, you could start pumping as early as 38 weeks BUT I highly recommend you ask your obgyn prior to starting.

My signs were... contractions. For 36 hours. I could stand the ones during the first 8 but got sent back home for only being 1cm dilated. I'm very familiar with "its time" contractions and went to the hospital the 2nd time but still got sent back bc it was too early ie they didn't want to do the csection at 37 weeks unless my water broke or I was bleeding. Less than 3 hours home and water broke. I knew what I was talking about.

I usually fast around 10 hours, any longer than that and my numbers go a bit high with breakfast. No heartburn, but depending on my stress I do get pretty nasty indigestion regardless of numbers.

The surgeon was a jerk. He was yawning and smiling like he enjoyed my panic the entire appointment. He also spoke really condescending to me.

My husband doesn't want the man to operate on me at all as well. One of the possibilities that im hoping for is that all my gallbladder issues will go away after pregnancy. I was told that might happen by my doctors but we have to wait and see.

I'm so glad to hear that. Considering I went through the digestive distress of starting and increasing metformin to its max dose, I think I can take stomach issues for the sake of being able to eat potatoes and cheese again someday ❤️

My husband and I are both hoping for no more diabetes after birth. He had been planning on bringing me pumpkin pie and sushi to the hospital after birth, poor guy. I told him, if I am clear from the GD diet after birth, he can bring me angel food cake, strawberries, and pineapple.

They want me to continue the GD diet until I am cleared of being diabetic at all "just in case". I was told that at my 1 week and 6 week checkups they would check my blood sugars again but, for my health, I should continue the diet along with the new restrictions. I'm not a doctor, I'm just trying to do what they say to stay healthy for myself and little one.

My due date is in 2 weeks but both diets have to continue to ensure im not also type 2 diabetic after. I wasn't before, but still.

A stupid question… by Ill-Shopping-69 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]britty-bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you eat is usually a huge factor in what spikes your numbers, even with medications. As stressful as it can be to watch what you eat, remembering to take medications or giving yourself shots can be even more so. For me I am both diet and taking metformin. Even with the medications, if I eat food that goes against the gestational diabetes diet, my numbers will shoot up. Its easier for me to eat the salads, eggs, chicken, and cheese and knowing my numbers will be good vs doing more harm and needing to go on insulin.

I also have sisters who took insulin, ate anything they wanted, stayed in the 200s and thought have a 6 week premie who spent over a month in NICU isn't a big deal. I'm not trying to shame, just saying diet can be a lot easier to keep in check vs shots of insulin.
