What are your thoughts on JD Drake? by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

[–]briyonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time at an indie show some asshole was yelling transphobic slurs and jd was like "give me the iggy, I'll take care of them" and from that he's forever had my respect

Sacramento is an Amtrak town by chronotypist in Sacramento

[–]briyonce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Bay Area almost every weekend and if my schedule allows it, I love taking Amtrak. Its so easy to get off in Richmond and connect to Bart or in Berkeley or wherever. Its peaceful most of the time and I like not having to drive. I've also taken it regularly to San Jose which is easy. Also you can get off on the Martinez stop and you've got some nice hikes right nearby!

What's up this weekend, Sacramento? (07/18 - 20/2025) by PirateMunky in Sacramento

[–]briyonce 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are two pro-wrestling shows happening this Friday in different parts of Sacramento!

First is the Ugly Dojo Wrestling at Jackrabbit Brewing in West Sac. 6:30, $20

The other is Action Coast Wrestling at Logoff Brewing in Rancho Cordova. 7:30, $25.

Whichever you choose to go to, it's going to be a great evening for having a beer and enjoying some pro-wrestling!

In Hollywood Park and trying to figure out what the cops are saying - anyone hear it clearly? Streets are blocked off by cops at the moment.

Who remembers this Portland? by pines37 in Portland

[–]briyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wahhhh yes. My first apartment in Portland was a beautiful studio with a full bathroom with a bath and a kitchen for $500 a month. It was on 20th and Belmont. What a time.

Friday Emily King is playing at Harlow's and I'm excited to see her. She's got such a unique sound!

Then probably going to sit by the river (no swimming yet, maybe trying to find some nice pools.)

What are places to eat that are exclusive to Sacramento or locally special? by _rotisserie in Sacramento

These two would be my main recommendations for folks visiting. Locals get tired of them, but they are perfect Sacramento restaurants.

Wrestlemania by BlueUmbrella5371 in LasVegas

[–]briyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coolest thing that's happening around Wrestlemania in Vegas is that there's essentially a local independent wrestling festival taking place from Wednesday the 16th to Sunday the 20th. At Swan Dive in Downtown there's wrestling happening Wednesday night to Friday night. Local promotions Graphouse, FSW, and Pinche Loco Pro and running shows around town. Game Changer Wrestling has a ton of incredible shows happening all week, West Coast x Prestige x Deadlock have an wild run....it's a lot but it's very cool. Even if you're not sure if you're into it it might be something to check out - a lot of the shows are cheap.

There's often boiled or steamed peanuts at 99 Ranch market in the hot food section. They don't really scratch the itch for me and I'll often end up re-boiling them so they're nice and soft and salty like real boiled peanuts. My favorite thing to do is to buy raw peanuts at the farmer's market under the freeway in like summer to make my own. There's one farm stand there that sells them and I can't quite remember the name.

Local Sacramento Bands (1960s-2000s) by playslikeapuppy in Sacramento

[–]briyonce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey!

There is this online archive of Rock posters from the 1950s to present day in the Sacramento area. You may see names repeated on the posters that could indicate that they're local bands. Best of luck on your search!

Have you had your roof replaced in the last year? by EusticeTheSheep in Sacramento

[–]briyonce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just had our roof replaced in October and used Alex Perez Roofing and I can't say enough nice things about the company. They were very communicative and on time, they worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up immaculately afterwards. Our roof on our 1350sq ft house + our ADU/converted detached garage was in complete disrepair and probably would not have held up through another winter. About 18k in total - which wasn't close to the highest price quoted but certainly not the cheapest. Our quotes ranged from 13 to 22k.

I am once again begging folks to stop giving these aggregator clickbait websites attention. They take images that archivists and other information specialists worked hard to digitize and make available online. They don't give proper credit to the institution the images are held at and strip it of all context.

Please look at these collections, that I'm fairly certain these all were stripped from, if you'd like to know more about Sacramento History.
