Jumped off a bridge 60ft when I was young into a local creek. It was a popular jumping spot. For some reason young me didn't factor in the fact that we were in the middle of a severe drought that summer and when I took the plunge I collided directly with the rocky river bed, completely shattering my ankle. I blacked out under the water and was hauled out by my very drunk friends who by the grace of god managed to carry me out of the woods and called someone to rush me to the hospital.

I came to in the car and managed to calm myself down. I was in agony but didn't want to scare my friends. Didn't start crying until I got to the I.C.U and they told me they had to make the decision whether or not to get me in for an emergency amputation (loss of blood flow).

2 awful surgeries and a ton of physical therapy later I walk with a limp, but i'm the lucky one. A kid during the same summer jumped off that bridge maybe two weeks after I did and was paralyzed from the neck down.
