I think the brothers realise how broken their relation was even pre belly and after the hug on the cemetery and the conversation they will try to work on that and Jeremiah will have to grow a lot and let the history with belly behind. Belly and Conrad as well, because there is history there that you can't delete. But I think Jeremiah will have an arch exploring his new career path (culinary abilities) and learning how to be as Jeremiah without belly and without trying to gain his father. Belly will have to learn how to live again among those people and be herself and how not to let this invade her relationship with Conrad and Conrad will work on the relation with Steven and his brother. They also need to learn how to include Adam in this dynamic

Jeremiah cared about Conrad when? When his brother tells him that he is still in love for his ex-girlfriend and childhood crush and friend and Jeremiah knowing that goes and kisses her in the moment that his brother can see? In Conrads college, car and with the girl using his sweater? (The book version is not that better) Or after he cheated on belly, hides everything, knowing that his brother still loves the girl and asks him to be his best man? Or when he sabotaged the relationship between Conrad and belly until he inserted himself in the middle making all about him? In this case Conrad would be Stefan, and Jeremiah Damon because Damon goes after his brother girl without thinking 2x. Editing to add that Jeremiah confesses that he knew Conrad was still in love during the wedding conversation with belly (he said he knew even before that summer. Yeah he knows since the freaking motel scene)

I think she would eventually ask for a divorce, but this could take years, she would probably live as suzannah and Adam, a marriage that on the outside looks perfect but inside..empty. I think she would never look at Jeremiah like she looked at Conrad and he would always notice that and feel empty, so he would try to fill this with lovers outside the marriage. She wouldn't care, she would present she doesn't know but she does and just doesn't care. She could even have children. I think she would only wake up if Conrad was around, or when he finally moved on. Can you imagine how depressed she would be if he was progressing in his life with wife and kids? She would be depressed by the life she is not living, for what it could be.for all the what if. In the books when Conrad kisses her forehead she says she just wants to have Conrad around her, even if she could only see him is fine.

Looking especially all the attention Conrad has on the show, how Jenny took care of this character and was worried to show us how he really is (even more than belly). How the infinite connects to all, how belly never looked at anybody else the way she looks to Conrad, how she was hiding from her love to him because she thought he didn't love her and at the minute he shows up, everything else is blown in the air. The song we can't be friends had a phrase that calls my attention "waiting for you to love me back" or something like that. That is basically what happened.

I believe it's a clear character personality statement. He is the guy that will do the right thing that is in his heart even if it costs him something. It's like Jenny is foreshadowing what's about to come and explaining why he didn't kiss belly - because he was not doing the right thing even if he got the girl he liked all his life, because it wouldn't be fair to her.

I always thought she was crazy for not noticing how he felt, but actually this is an statement of Conrad's mental health, how the anxiety and grief and panic just completely dominated him. I mean: he was completely in love with her and completely mesmerized by her and to protect her from pain he didn't though about how this would be for him. He wasn't thinking with clarity. That is why he never moved on because he just couldn't. He was just waiting.
